Riot has updated the base Syndra splash art with more spiciness.
League of Legends was released in 2009, more than a decade ago. Since then, they have added myriads of new content to the game. However, much of the content still in the game hasn’t been updated since its release. For example, one of the launch skins, Black Alistar, is just a recolor of the original. Even the splash art is the same as the release day Alistar splash art. Yet, it still hasn’t been updated yet.
Even so, Riot Games still updates the game regularly to keep the game up to par with modern standards. Due to this, we have seen various champion updates, reworks, visual overhauls, etc.
One of the most significant ways that Riot Games is updating the champion’s visual is by doing ASU. With ASU or Art and Sustainability Update, Riot can fully overhaul the champion’s visual without touching their kit. We have seen Caitlyn and Ahri ASU. While Riot still doesn’t classify Jax as an ASU, it was a similar type of update. Moreover, they also confirmed that Lee Sin and Teemo will receive a similar type of update in 2024.
Besides that, Riot does small visual changes to the champions. It could either be some VFX updates or splash art changes. We have seen old champions like Fizz, Nami, etc., get VFX changes. Moreover, Kassadin, a couple of years ago, got a completely new splash art. Afterwards, we have got new splashes for Hecarim, Sivir, and Rugged Garen. Now, we are receiving a new splash art for one of the popular mages, Syndra.

Updated Syndra Splash Art
Riot has now completely overhauled Syndra’s splash. Now, it looks even more menacing than before. Not only that, but the quality is extremely high quality. Even though Syndra mains weren’t happy at all that she didn’t get a legendary Coven Syndra, this splash art is a good compromise.
One of the main reasons we are getting an updated splash art now is that Syndra is coming out on Wild Rift in patch 5.0. Usually, before a champion releases in Wild Rift, if the champion is old, then Riot updates that champion’s visual. And that update also includes the splash art.
Overall, this new splash art is fantastic. And now, hopefully, Riot Games also updates her in-game models as well. Mainly because the model, texture, and even the animations are very outdated.
