Riot Games is adding new Voidgrubs and Voidmites in the Rift.

Preseason is one of the most exciting time periods in League of Legends. During these times, Riot adds all types of experimental features and additions to the game. Moreover, ranks are also reset so the players can fully enjoy these new features to the fullest without thinking about their ranks.

The last preseason was one of the least significant preseason of all time. The main reason for that is that it barely introduced anything new. Some of the new things were the return of the Chemtech Drake, new tank items, Hexgates in ARAM, and new jungle pets.

Among the things listed earlier, Chemtech Drake was not a new dragon, as it was first introduced in season 12. However, it was swiftly removed for being too buggy and unbalanced. Moreover, the Hexgates were already a feature in Summoner’s Rift. Overall, it was extremely underwhelming.

With that said, recently, Riot Games revealed the Season 2024 dev log. Even though every prior season had massive jungle item changes, this season, there aren’t any. But, instead of jungle item changes, Riot completely changed the map layout and added some new epic monsters. Two of these monsters are Voidgrubs and Voidmites.

Voidgrubs are the new epic monster that will spawn in the baron pit at 5 minutes. There will be a total of three spawning at the same time, and all of them will have a weakness in the back, similar to Rift Herald. Moreover, they also have a respawn timer of 4 minutes. After 14 minutes, all remaining Voidgrubs will despawn and make room for the new and improved Rift Herald.

When fighting them, Voidgrubs will spawn smaller Voidmites to help fight the players. If a player manages to kill any of the Voidgrubs, they will gain a permanent buff called Hunger of the Void. Through this buff, the players can deal bonus damage to enemy structure.

If the team manages to slay all six Voidgrubs, then the smaller Voidgrubs will start spawning to help you destroy the enemy structures.

These new epic monsters will drastically change not only the meta but also the pacing of the game. Now, the towers will fall much faster, thanks to the new buffs and Voidmites. Therefore, we are going to see more faster games.
