Are you looking to learn Vertigo to help you in your premier mode grind? We have the most essential smoke lineups for Vertigo right here.
Vertigo was added to the competitive map pool of CS:GO in 2019, almost 4 years ago. Even then, the map underwent many changes and iterations before becoming the stable version of today. Still, players are reluctant to play the map, with the rampant Vertiglobals in matchmaking and risking elo in FaceIT or other platforms.
With the addition of Premier Mode in Counter-Strike 2, there is now a map pick-ban system. Learning maps like Vertigo will give you an edge over opponents who only play with their comfort picks. This article will guide you through the most essential smokes to help you master Vertigo.

Vertigo Smoke Lineups in Counter-Strike 2
Vertigo is still a challenging map to understand. Therefore, we have picked out some of the more common and essential smoke lineups for Vertigo to help you ease into mastering the map. With both our CT and T-side lineups, you will get the upper hand.
Most smokes in this guide will require you to use the jump throw. If you don’t know what jump-throw is or how it works, we recommend you go through this article beforehand.
Vertigo CT-Side Lineups
Fighting for control in certain areas of the map is essential for proper CT-side domination. By denying the opposition sightlines, you can take large areas of the map and cut off the T-side before they have a chance to strike you.
A-Ramp Smoke
- Line up against the left wall in the elevator room while going towards A-site.

- Aim slightly left of the top right corner of the first tile after the light.

- Run until you reach the end of the false ceiling tiles and release your throw button. The smoke will bounce off the iron pillar and smoke ramp, preventing any push from T-side.

B-Main Smoke
- Go to the back side pillar and line up to the right of the pillar.

- Aim to the left of the opening of the horizontal pillar.

- Throw the smoke to remove vision into and out of B stairs to B main.

Vertigo T-Side Lineups
Vertigo plays differently from other maps, as all choke points are points of contact. From A-ramp to mid and even B-stairs, you will need to fight your way against the contesting CTs. Therefore, the objective is to use utility to cut off sightlines while entering the site to minimize casualties.
A-Short from T-spawn
- Stand in the opening to the left of the spawn near the elevator.

- Place your crosshair in between the opening of the yellow crane.

- Jump Throw the smoke, and it will land to deny vision from any aggressive CTs pushing on A-short.

A-Site Execute Smokes
The first variation we will show is the close-site smoke execution. These smokes will isolate the site from the defensive positions at the back of the site and will allow you to plant the bomb.
A-Default Smoke (Right Side)
- Stand on the left side of the sandbags close to the short scaffolding on the A-ramp.

- Aim to the right of the first bulge in the yellow crane

- Left-click throw, and the smoke will land behind the box. Pair it with a second smoke for short to complete the execution.

A-Default Smoke (Left Side)
- Stand close to the sandbags under the crane opposite the A-short scaffold.

- Aim at where the lower end of the metal bar contacts the yellow scaffold bar.

- Jump Throw the smoke, which will pair with the default smoke to cut the site in half.

A-Site Deep Smokes
A different variant of the A-site smokes involved putting the smokes deeper to cut off entry points for the opponents. Therefore, the smokes will allow you to take control of the site entirely combined with your other utilities.
Elevator Smoke
- Line up against the second bolt on A-ramp. You will need ramp control for this setup.

- Aim a bit higher on the top of the second pillar. The smoke will bounce off of this pillar.

- Keeping your aim static, run forward a few steps and left-click-throw the smoke. With the right distance, your smoke will land perfectly.

CT Smoke
- Stand on the opposite side of the sandbags for the default smoke previously.

- Aim at the intersection of the right-most vertical red pillar and the second horizontal red line.

- Throw the smoke normally.

B-Site Smokes
Setting up on B is more challenging due to the harsh chokepoint. Nevertheless, smokes are essential to take B-site with minimal resistance.
Right Side Generator
- Lineup between the big box and sandbags under B Stairs

- Crouch and aim at the top of the box with the blue cloth. After lining up, stand up again while keeping the crosshair unchanged.

- Left-click throw the smoke to block off any resistance from the close angle.

Left-Side Generator
- Stand close to the barrier wire and move forward until you get automatically stuck near the end pole.

- Aim the crosshair between the openings of the B-stair railings. Line up the smoke with the bend of the stairs vertically and the middle of the railing horizontally.

- Left-click-throw the smoke, and you can smoke the far side during entries.

These smokes will let you take control of the site and put your opposition under pressure. Use these essential smoke lineups to take the upper hand the next time you play on Vertigo!
