Riot Games potentially revealed the release date of one of the highly anticipated reworks of 2022, the Udyr rework.
Udyr has been around in League of Legends since season 1, and is one of the few champions who still have their base model untouched. Being such an old champion with a simple kit, Udyr has always been considered one of the worst champions in League of Legends; until the Turbo Chemtank meta.
However, Riot gave Udyr a VFX update in season 10, improving his transform effects. And later announced a VGU poll in which The Spirit Walker had a “landslide” victory. Winning in the VGU poll means, Udyr can now finally get a full-scale rework similar to Fiddlesticks and Dr. Mundo.
And since his victory, there’ve been multiple blog posts from Riot on how the development is going — showing Udyr’s new concept arts, potential skins, and his different form/design ideas.
Even though a couple of months earlier, Riot did say that the “base Udyr is finished,” and they are now focusing on his skin catalog, there was no specific release date for Udyr Rework — until now.
Udyr Rework Release Date
Earlier this month, replying to a Reddit comment, League of Legends’ lead champion producer Ryan “Reav3” Mireles said that the Udyr rework should come out “sometime next month.” He also thinks it should be early next month rather than “later.”
So, if we consider the early August release window, there’s only one patch, patch 12.15.
Therefore, we can safely assume that the Udyr rework will hit the Summoner’s Rift on League of Legends patch 12.15, which is scheduled to release on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
However, Riot Reav3 also mentioned that there’s a chance that Udyr rework might release in late August on patch 12.16 as “stuff always shifts and changes.”
Regardless, we are getting Udyr’s rework on PBE very soon.
