Learn how to summon Phoenix in Final Fantasy 16.
Final Fantasy 16 is the latest addition to the famous Final Fantasy franchise. The developer Square Enix had previously announced that they would be introducing a lot of new features to the franchise through Final Fantasy 16. As a matter of fact, the developers have brought a complete change to one of the most prominent features of the franchise, “Summon.”
Summoning has been a key mechanism of the previous Final Fantasy games. The developers have brought a major change in the system, as the protagonist of the game, Clive, can no longer directly summon anything. Rather, these summons are now called Eikons, and Clive will be able to use their abilities once the Eikons are unlocked.
There are eight playable Eikons in the game right now. Players will unlock all of them one by one just by following the game’s storyline. In this article, we will discuss everything about the Phoenix Eikon of Final Fantasy 16.

How to Unlock Phoenix
Phoenix is the Eikon of fire, and its dominant is Joshua Rosfield, the younger brother of Clive Rosfield and the son of the Archduke of Rosaria. The Phoenix Eikon plays a significant role in the overall storyline of Final Fantasy 16. To acquire the abilities of Phoenix, you must complete the main quest, “Sunrise, Sunset.”
All Phoenix Abilities
Phoenix’s abilities are mostly dependent on attacking the enemies. However, this Eikon does not have many strong attack abilities compared to other Eikons. But in the earlier stages of the game, the abilities of Phoenix might prove game-changing if used in the proper way with the proper set of abilities.
- Rising Flame: By using this ability, Clive summons a fiery wing that deals damage. The wing can also launch lighter enemies into the air. This ability can be useful for the player for dealing the primary damage during the start of any battle.
- Heatwave: Clive summons a wall of liquid flame and subsequently launches several deadly shockwaves. The force of the waves is amplified upon dispelling magic.
- Flames of Rebirth: Using this skill, Clive summons a massive pillar of fire that damages any nearby enemy. This ability also helps Clive to restore his HP partially.
- Phoenix Shift: Clive uses the Blessing of the Phoenix to close the gap between a target. Both melee attacks and magicked shots can be dealt with while shifting.
- Scarlet Cyclone: After using this skill, Clive will spin fast and create a wall of fire, dealing damage to any enemy who comes in contact with it.
How to Use Phoenix Abilities
Since Clive is not the dominant Phoenix, he cannot transform into Phoenix, rather he will acquire the abilities of the Phoenix and also can use the abilities during battles. Players can upgrade and equip these Phoenix abilities whenever they want after they have successfully unlocked the abilities of the Eikon.
Phoenix is most helpful for the players during the earlier quests of the game. However, if you have unlocked a strong Eikon, you will most likely not want to use the abilities of Phoenix. However, Phoenix’s ability Heatwave can be a strong ranged attack against any enemy in Valisthea.
Other attack abilities like Flames of Rebirth and Rising Flames will also help you clear the wave of enemies and progress through the story smoothly. Once you have unlocked the abilities of the other Eikons, it would be wise for you to pair the Phoenix abilities with stronger ones from the other Eikons.
