Final Fantasy 16 has recently been released, and it comes with a wide roster of new characters along with a new storyline. Characters have always been one of the key elements of each edition of the famous Final Fantasy franchise.
Square Enix has done brilliant work in building up each character and giving each character an important role throughout the main story of the game. In this article, we will introduce you to all the characters you will meet throughout Final Fantasy 16.

All Final Fantasy 16 Main Characters
Clive Rosfield
Clive Rosfield is the only playable character and the main protagonist of Final Fantasy 16. He is the firstborn son of the Duke of Rosaria. Despite being the firstborn, Clive fails to inherit the Phoenix’s power which then gets inherited by his brother. Clive then works as the shield for his brother after excelling in swordsmanship.
Joshua Rosfield
Joshua Rosfield is Clive’s younger brother, the second son of the Duke of Rosaria. After Clive fails to inherit the power of Phoenix, Joshua successfully awakens the Phoenix and becomes the Dominant of the Phoenix. Joshua plays a vital role throughout the story of Final Fantasy 16 by carrying out the role of Dominant of the Phoenix.
Cidolfus Telamon
Cidolfus Telamon, also known as Cid, is the leader of a rebel group within Valisthea. Cid’s group seeks to free magic users from enslavement and abuse. Clive Rosfield and Jill Warrick also join Cidolfus Telamon to help him reach his aim.
Jill Warrick
Jill Warrick is the lead female character of Final Fantasy 16. She is a former princess of the Northern Territories who used to live with Clive and Joshua as a hostage. Jill joins Cid’s group after being rescued by Cidolfus and Clive. Jill and Clive also develop a romantic relationship between themselves throughout the story of the game.
Torgal
Torgal is the only pet companion that Clive has throughout the game. After surviving the rampage of Ifrit, Torgal finally reunites with Clive and Jill and stays with them as a companion. And yes, you can pet him.
All Final Fantasy 16 Supporting Characters
Dion Lesage
Dion Lesage is the crown prince of the Empire of Sanbreque and the Dominant of Bahamut, the Eikon of Light. He is also the commander of the Empire’s Dragoon soldiers. Dion acts as a strong aid to Clive and Joshua’s assault on Ultima’s fortress Origin.
Barnabas Tharmr
The origin story of Barnabas Tharmr is unknown to the players of Final Fantasy 16. He is the king of Waloed, which dominates the entire Ash continent, and the Dominant of Odin, the Eikon of darkness. He is a worshipper of Ultima, who comes against Clive multiple times throughout the story.
Ultima
Ultima is the main antagonist of the game. He comes from the ancient alien civilization of Fallen, who lost their planet due to their overuse of magic. Ultima’s goal is to bring back the Fallen while destroying Valisthea.
Hugo Kupka
Hugo Kupka is the current Dominant of the earth, Eikon Titan, and consequently the political leader and figurehead of the Dhalmekian Republic. He was essentially a normal soldier who then climbed through the ladder of politics after becoming the Dominant.
Benedikta Harman
Benedikta Harman is a close aide to Barnabas Tharmr who acts as the head of intelligence of Waloed. The only thing I can disclose is that fate wasn’t kind to her till the end.
