Blitzcrank is getting some massive changes in Patch 13.17.
Riot is coming out with Patch 13.17 in League of Legends at the end of August. This patch is set to be a pretty big one, as there are a bunch of changes coming. The Blue Essence Emporium will be coming in this patch along with the new Cosmic skins.
In terms of balance changes, Riot is doing a lot of work. The buffs and nerfs list is long in this one, as there is quite a bit to look forward to. There are many highlights in the patch, amongst which are the changes to Blitzcrank.
Riot has said that they are removing the jungle modifiers from the champion. It does not stop there as Riot put in more changes and is now changing how Blitzcrank works as a Support. Here is what we know so far.

Blitzcrank Changes Patch 13.17
Before talking about the changes further, let’s list them out first.
- Base Stats:
- Health: 633 >>> 650.
- Magic Resist: 28 >>> 32.
- Attack Speed: 0.65 >>> 0.625.
- Attack Speed Ratio: 0.7 >>> 0.625.
- Passive – Mana Barrier:
- Shield Value: 15 – 45% maximum Mana (based on level) >>> 30% maximum Mana (at all levels).
- W – Overdrive:
- Mana Cost: 85 Mana >>> 75 Mana.
- Bonus Attack Speed: 30/43/56/69/82% >>> 30/40/50/60/70%.
- On-Hit Damage Removed
- E – Power Fist:
- Mana Cost: 40 Mana >>> 25 Mana.
- AD Ratio: 75% >>> 100%.
- Bonus Monster and Minion Damage: 250% AD (+ 150% AP) >>> 0.
- R – Static Field:
- Passive:
- Now deals an additional 2% maximum Mana damage.

There is a lot to talk about. Firstly, his base stats are being adjusted with less Attack Speed but more Health and Magic Resists. Then, Blitzcrank will now get a consistent Shield from his Passive while many other abilities have lower Mana Costs.
Lastly, his entire kit was adjusted to remove Attack Speed and Jungle modifiers and add in more Mana efficiency. This signals that Riot is trying to make players stick to Blitzcrank Support. Also, these changes make Blitzcrank stronger in the Support role.
Blitzcrank was already being played in Pro Play, and these changes will definitely encourage that more. With these changes, we should expect to see a stronger and more impactful Blitzcrank in League of Legends.
