Bungie has rolled out Marathon Update 1.1.0.1, and while this is not a massive balance patch, it does bring several important fixes across the game. The update mainly targets item economy issues, weapon mod bugs, contract problems, UI errors, faction progression blockers, and Night Marsh bugs that were affecting the Season 2 experience.
The main highlight of this patch is that Prestige gear is now slightly harder to come by, while several annoying progression and reward issues have finally been cleaned up.
Marathon Update 1.1.0.1 Overview
Marathon Update 1.1.0.1 is more of a quality-of-life and bug fix patch than a full gameplay shakeup. Bungie has adjusted the drop rate of certain Prestige items, fixed several contract and Codex issues, and resolved a few frustrating bugs tied to weapons, chips, rewards, and the Armory.
The update also includes fixes for the new Night Marsh content, which should make the map feel smoother and less confusing for players exploring it during Season 2.
Item Economy Changes
The most noticeable change in Marathon Update 1.1.0.1 comes from the item economy. Bungie has slightly reduced the chance for Prestige Shields to appear from all sources. Prestige Weapon Mods have also received the same treatment, with their appearance rate being slightly reduced across the board.
It does not remove Prestige gear from the game, but it should make these items feel a bit less common than before.
Bungie also fixed several Schema issues where players were receiving more or fewer Credits than the listed value after exfil. That fix should make rewards feel more consistent and reliable, especially for players trying to plan their runs around profit.
Weapon Fixes and Combat Changes
Marathon Update 1.1.0.1 does not bring a long list of direct weapon buffs or nerfs, but it does fix a couple of important combat-related issues.
One fix addresses a weapon mod problem where dragging a mod from one equipped weapon to another could incorrectly show it as incompatible. This happened even when the mod was valid for both weapons, so the fix should make loadout management much less annoying.
The D54 Battle Pistol also received a fix tied to its Prestige mod perk, Daredevil Stock. Before the update, spam clicking could extend the super burst for the full duration of the magazine.
Chip Changes
The Aftershock perk also received a fix in this update. Bungie addressed an issue where Aftershock was expiring too quickly after taking explosive damage.
Players using Aftershock should notice it working more reliably after the patch.
UI and Quality of Life Fixes
A large part of Marathon Update 1.1.0.1 is focused on the user interface and general player experience. Bungie fixed an issue where Push to Talk would fail while players were on the prepare screen, which should help squads communicate more smoothly before heading into a run.
The update also cleans up item tooltips during multi-select in the lobby and adds the missing Zone Status Effect called โitโs Darkโ to the Night Marsh preview.
Bungie also fixed the Cryo Maintenance key description, which previously listed the wrong unlock steps. On the technical side, the update resolves a visual issue that caused ghosting or artifacting in the lobby when AMD FSR was used with resolution scaling set to quality or lower.
Streamer Mode, Rewards Pass navigation, and the Season 2 Premium Rewards Pass purchase screen also received fixes.
Faction and Contract Fixes
Several faction-related issues have been addressed in this patch. For Sekiguchi Genetics, Bungie fixed a bug where Capstone 6 could not be claimed after unlocking all required upgrades.
Contracts also received attention. The update fixes an issue where claiming rewards from certain Contracts could trigger duplicate reward notification popups. Bungie also fixed a problem where returning Runners unlocking Cryo Archive could run into a โContracts Depletedโ error.
CyberAcme and MIDA also received smaller fixes. CyberAcmeโs โCyAc Guidance: Complex Controlโ contract now shows the correct Deluxe version of the Hardline PR in the reward preview, while MIDAโs Expose and Extinguish activity should no longer have the Gantryโs voice fail after the terminal hacking step.
Codex, Armory, and Challenge Fixes
The Codex received several fixes in Update 1.1.0.1. The โNightstalker > Spacebucksโ entry now properly tracks Certs spent instead of only counting singular runs. Bungie also fixed placeholder text for the Anomalous Husk entry and addressed an empty menu issue when backing out of the inspect screen for Bungie Rewards items.
Sentinel progression has also been improved. The โInformation Economyโ entry can now be completed after meeting the requirements, and the โRiposteโ challenge now gives players more time to defeat a target after an interception.
The Armory also received multiple fixes. Bungie corrected a tooltip that advised players to buy ammo and healing items that were not present, fixed the cost display for the Traxus Prestige mod โTriple Barrel,โ and resolved an issue that prevented the Night Marsh Sponsored Kit from appearing if the player was under Runner Level 3.
Night Marsh Fixes
Night Marsh is one of the main areas affected by this update. Bungie fixed an issue that prevented some landmarks from appearing on the mini map in Dire Marsh at night.
The update also fixes a Maintenance issue where certain Cert containers could be opened without spending any Certs. Combined with the broader Prestige gear drop rate adjustments, this shows Bungie is tightening Marathonโs economy after the launch of Season 2.
Stability and Localization Improvements
Marathon Update 1.1.0.1 also includes several stability improvements. Bungie fixed crashes or stability problems that could occur when selecting nodes in the faction upgrades screen.
Localization fixes are also included. The update corrects spelling and grammar issues for multi-select tooltips and fixes a Russian language issue where Thiefโs voice-over lines could duplicate.
With this patch, Bungie is clearly cleaning up Season 2 after launch by fixing progression blockers, correcting reward issues, tightening the loot economy, and improving Night Marsh.
