Riot has confirmed that AP Kai’Sa will receive a nerf in the next patch, 13.15.
In early May this year, Riot Games released the mid-season patch of season 13. And it was the most influential update of this year.
This mid-season update introduced many itemization changes to League of Legends. It changed almost every item in the game. For example, many mythic items were reworked and changed into legendary, and many legendary items were buffed and promoted into Mythic items.
This simple change changed the game’s meta drastically compared to the previous two seasons. Because of this update, some champions became weaker, while others became stronger. Some champions whose playstyles fully shifted are Kai’Sa, Kayle, Varus, Kog’Maw, etc.
The main reasons these champions completely changed was because re-introduction of hybrid items like Guinsoo’s Rageblade and items with AP ratio like Statikk Shiv. Because of it, many champions with strong AP and AD scaling started dominating the meta. Many of them, like Varus and Kai’Sa, were even picked in the top lane because of their versatility. As time went on, Riot nerfed Statikk Shiv, Varus, Kog’Maw, etc.
While they are still trying to balance the hybrid champions and items, Riot has unveiled that Kai’Sa will receive a nerf in the next patch.

Patch 13.15 AP Kai’Sa Nerf
- Base health: 670 >>> 640.
- Q damage per missile: 40-100 (+50% bonus attack damage)(+ 30% ability power) >>> 40-100 (+50% bonus attack damage)(+20% ability power).
- W cooldown reduction after evolution: 77 >>> 75%.
RiotPhroxzon, the lead designer on the balance team, has confirmed that Kai’Sa, specifically her AP synergy, will be nerfed in the next patch. But he didn’t specify what exactly will be nerfed. Moreover, it’s also hard to pinpoint since almost all of her kit has an AP ratio. But we can expect these nerfs to be significant.
Additionally, Riot also talked about changes to Statikk Shiv and Night Harvester synergy to require ability hit. This change is directly aimed at LeBlanc. But we can expect Statikk Shiv not to receive changes soon as they are still monitoring the item.
Release Date
We can expect the AP Kai’Sa nerf to hit live servers on patch 13.15, scheduled to release on Wednesday, Aug 2, 2023.
