Final Fantasy 16 changes how the summons works in the game. Here is how to summon Titan in the game.
Final Fantasy 16 takes the franchise to a new height and makes the game accessible to new players. In the past, it had either a turn-based combat system or a hybrid between turn-based and action combat. But this time around, Final Fantasy 16 only focuses on the character’s action combat.
As a direct result of the change in the combat system, the typical summons is not in the game anymore. Instead, they have been replaced with Eikons and Dominants. The Eikons are massively powerful beings with big setpieces around them and usually end in an epic boss fight.
Even though the new system, you cannot summon the Eikons as you wish; you can gain their abilities to use them in combat. And during the big action setpiece, you can bring out the full power of the Eikons in the game.

How to Unlock Titan in Final Fantasy 16
Titan’s dominant is Hugo Kupka in Final Fantasy 16. So you will need to defeat him to gain the Titan’s essence and unlock the Titan’s abilities. Being a major boss fight, he will show up as long as you follow the main story quest of the game. You will fight him during the main quest called Capital Punishment.
Even though you defeat him in this quest, you need to wait until the next main quest actually to unleash the Titan’s abilities. This quest is called Bolts from the Blue.
All Titan Abilities in FF16
Titan has the earth’s elements and focuses on blocks to increase the power of the ability. Here are all the abilities you get from the Titan.
- Raging Fists – Deliver a blinding flurry of high-speed punches. Blocking with this ability increases the power.
- Windup – Hold the button to wind up an attack and Punch forward
- Earthen Fury – Drive both hands into the ground, causing the land to surge upwards, sending nearby enemies flying.
- Titanic Block – Blocks enemy attack and can be used to counterattack in case of timed block.
- Upheaval – Slam a fist to the ground, dealing damage to all enemies within range.
How to Use Titan Abilities
After defeating the Dominant of the Titan, a new skill tree will unlock in the menu. From that skill tree, you can unlock all the Titan’s abilities. Then you can equip these abilities to use them in the game. Also, it needs to be mentioned that since Clive is not the Dominant of Titan, he cannot summon him directly on the field.
Titan is particularly good at dealing damage and blocking enemies. But the downside is some of them have a cast time or mini-game attached to them. This cast time can be reduced by pairing it with different skills and combing them. So finding out which works and which doesn’t for your playstyle is a part of Titan’s skillset.
