The Multi-Disenchant Feature has not landed well as Riot has responded to the backlash.
Riot is preparing for the return of the Blue Essence Emporium in League of Legends. We know all the details, including when the Essence Emporium is returning in League of Legends. The Blue Essence Emporium will host a lot of Chromas, Champie Icons, and such.
Also, accompanying that, we will be getting the Dark Cosmic Erasure Milestones and Exclusive Icons for each champion for RP. So, we are getting a ton of goodies despite a lot of them costing a fair bit of money.
So before the Blue Essence Emporium launched, Riot released a Multi-Disenchant Feature. This disenchants shards and gives you back the value in one go instead of doing it one by one. However, this feature launched with many problems, so players were not happy with it.
Hence, Riot has responded to the backlash and talked about the issues with the feature at this moment. Here is what we know so far.

The LoL Multi-Disenchant Feature Backlash
While the feature is a great addition to League of Legends, it came with a few limitations which players were not happy about. Here are some of the big limitations of the feature.
- Can only disenchant 50 shards at a time.
- It disenchants 50 shards in the order the shards are sorted by the feature.
- You cannot manually select or deselect shards.
All of these are frustrating misses in the feature. This stops players from saving the Champion shards they want and keeps them for Mastery promotion. So, to address the ire of the players, Riot BarackProbama addressed the backlash and questions from players.
Riot’s Response to the Backlash
In light of the controversy, Riot BarackProbama answered the biggest problems pointed out by players. The three questions he points out based on the Reddit thread are as follows.
- Why does it only let me select 1 category and 50 shards at a time?
- Why can’t players unselect shards?
- Why does the feature not allow players to save shards for Champion Mastery?
The first question was answered by Riot BarackProbama as a choice they made to address server load. In his words, Riot designed this feature this way so that it can handle multiple requests from people at the same time. Long term, Riot wants to address this issue to allow more shards to be disenchanted at the same time.
The second and third questions received a similar answer. Riot BarackProbama’s first response to the questions was time. Riot rushed the feature to deploy it before the Blue Essence Emporium launched.
This was so that players could get the wealth of Blue Essence they were saving. He also acknowledged that to players, this will feel like a frustrating oversight. Riot BarackProbama added to this and said that collecting loot and such for Champion Mastery is something Riot does not want to carry forward.
The response was not the best from Riot, but they at least answered. However, these problems are an issue for many players, and hopefully, Riot will fix them soon. It is something that cannot persist for a long time, and there shouldn’t be a need for Riot to rush things.
Thus, we hope Riot fixes the issues as soon as possible so players can properly utilize a much-needed feature in League of Legends.
