Pro Apex Legends player Hakis, who is currently representing the Alliance, suggests Respawn should make some changes to Gibraltar’s tactical ability.

Following its release back in 2019, Respawn Entertainment shocked the battle royale market with Apex Legends as they launched it without any prior marketing. While many diehard Titanfall fans were up at arms at first, they soon realized that Respawn made an honest effort at revolutionizing the genre with their world-class FPS mechanics.
As Apex Legends amassed a massive dedicated fanbase, Respawn also introduced a ranked mode for players with a competitive itch. Also, Respawn even put in the extra effort to kickstart the pro-Apex Legends tournament as well.
This battle royale shooter’s pro scene managed to garner a dedicated fanbase of its own. Although many showcased some doubts regarding the stale nature of the legend meta in the game during the first few big tournaments, the Wraith, Pathfinder, and Wattson meta were very prevalent and unavoidable at that time.
However, that soon changed as Respawn made some balancing updates targeted towards characters to shake up the meta. Gibraltar, the defensive Legend, received a lot of buff during that period and went on from being the least-picked agent to being in the top 5 in the professional Apex Legends tournament within a very short period of time.
Pro Player Calls for a nerf to Gibraltar’s tactical
In the current pro character meta, Gibraltar is in a pretty solid state. That said, some pro players believe that Gibraltar might be over-tuned and need some subtle nerf. Pro Apex Legends player Hakis from Alliance suggests Respawn should make Gibraltar’s tactical dome shield breakable. Meaning, instead of it being totally indestructible, what if Respawn gave it a damage number of 2000HP?
According to Hakis, this change will not affect the casual player base. Instead, it will nerf Valkyrie since it won’t be as easy to use her ultimate to reach the center of the zone, especially at the end of the game.
The balance team responsible for Apex Legends has to walk the fine line between keeping the meta fresh for pro players as well as casual players that make up the majority of the player base. Suffice it to say that this is a difficult aspect of the game to balance properly.
Gibraltar’s tactical has been a staple of the game for a long time, and changes to that may affect the game in myriad ways. That being said, Respawn hasn’t responded to this suggestion yet. So, everything is up in the air surrounding this topic as of writing.
