After being one of the most dominant support champions for the last couple of patches, Riot is finally taking away some of Pantheon’s strength in patch 10.25.
Ever since his rework on patch 9.16, Pantheon had his ups and downs in League of Legends. In season 9 he was primarily played in Top lane and was one of the most dominant solo laners. However, after getting back to back changes from patch 9.16 to 9.20, Pantheon became quite underwhelming to play compared to other meta Top laners.
Even though his state in the Top lane is not that great and he is yet to receive any buff in season 10, League players have found a new role: Support that suites his playstyle flawlessly. However, because of him being overpowered in the support role, Riot did nerf some of his strength in patch 10.21.
Pantheon went from having a 6.4% presence in the Support role in patch 10.5 to 87% presence in patch 10.23. Additionally, he currently has a 50.44% win rate in the support role while having a 9% pick rate. Meanwhile, he only has a 4.5% pick rate in the Top lane.
And now, the Designer on the Summoner’s Rift team Riot Phlox has shared some more changes for Pantheon in the upcoming patch 10.25.
“Taking away some proplay and support/midlane power to give Toplane a place to shine,” Riot Phlox on Pantheon changes. “Will be following up if needed as we see games on it and where the roles shake out.”

Regarding the item build on the new Pantheon changes, Riot Phlox said, “expecting him to try more bruiser items (Lethality is definitely still good). We’ve seen a lot of success on Eclipse, and some matchup dependent stuff with even items like Divine Sunderer or Botrk. Cleaver feels way better now too.”
Pantheon will now be getting a better trading pattern for fighting other melees in the top while losing his strength from the support and mid lane.
The new Pantheon changes will be available for testing on Nov 25th while the full change is expected to release on patch 10.25, December 9, 2020.
