Ever since Respawn announced that Lifeline would receive some buff in the upcoming event, players were asking Respawn if Octane would get anything in the new event.

Seems like Respawn already has a plan laid out for this speed junky. Respawn’s design director Jason McCord claimed that Octane is finally getting some much-needed love from Respawn. Although Respawn didn’t explain how exactly they are planning to make him more useful during team fights.

Updated:

Ever since his release back in season 1, the whole Apex community unanimously agreed that Octane needed something extra to stand out in team fights. While his utilities are fine for solo queue, Apex Legends at its core is still a team focused experience. Since Octane’s abilities are usually not that great in big team fights, this makes him not that viable for high tier competition.

However, Octane does have a really dedicated fan base in the Apex community who will play as this speed freak no matter what. Despite Octane’s popularity in public matchmaking, his pick rate in rank mode is really low. Octane is mainly known for his fun play style in solo public matches.

The new update that will be available on June 23rd is supposed to come with this new buff. How this will affect Octane’s viability in the team fights is still too early to tell. However, according to Respawn, if this buff fails to make Octane a more viable option in the upcoming update, Respawn still has more planned out for this speedy boy in the future.

Right now Octane mains can breathe a sigh of relief knowing Respawn has big plans for Octane in the upcoming updates. These changes should make him more of a team player.
