Baldur’s Gate 3 sends the players to different worlds in order to complete the daring and exciting quests that the game offers. The game is set in the Forgotten Realms of the classic Dungeons and Dragons. Throughout the game, players will visit different areas of the map, including some underground areas. Each of these areas comes with a difficulty of its own.
While following the storyline of the game, players will set their sights on the Underdark at some point in the game. The Underdark is a different world that is located below the world of Faerun and is full of dark mysteries. Players will also need to complete several quests in this world. However, players can take different routes to enter this mysterious world called the Underdark. In this guide, we will show you each route that you can take to get to the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Get to Underdark in BG3
Blighted Village
The easiest entrance to the Underdark is located beneath the Blighted Village in the Whispering Depths. After reaching the Whispering Depths, explore the area, and you will find a giant hole, which is the entrance to the Underdark. However, a strong Phase Spider Matriarch is guarding this spot.
Finish this enemy and jump to the giant hole to make your way to the Underdark. Make sure to use Feather Fall for all party members to avoid fall damage once you jump to the Underdark.
Zhentarim Hideout
Head over to the northern area of Waukeen’s Rest Waypoint to make your way to the Zhentarim Hideout. On the west side of this hideout, you will find an old shack. Inside the shack, you will meet a Sorcerer called Salazon.
Using skill checks, convince him to let you pass through the area. Once you pass the skill checks, the sorcerer will give you a key to a hideout. Once you make your way to the hideout by using the key, you will come across a wolf and an illusion wall. Kill the wolf and make your way past the wall to reach an elevator. Now lockpick the elevator and use it to reach the Underdark.
Defiled Temple
From the Goblin Camp, head northwest to reach the Shattered Sanctum. Once inside the Shattered Sanctum, make your way to the Priestess Guts’ Room. On your way to this location, you will come across some goblins and an ogre. You can either fight them or pass some skill checks to negotiate with them and make them allow you to go inside.
Once inside the Priestess Guts Room, picklock the door inside and enter the Defiled Temple. You will face another Ogre inside this location, whom you will need to find. Afterward, simply solve the Defiled Temple puzzle to open your way to the Underdark.
Overgrown Tunnel
During the Save Mayrina quest, you will reach the Overgrown Tunnel for the first time. This location also acts as an entry point to the Underdark. Complete the quest first. After killing Auntie Ethel in this quest, make your way to the north of the room, where you will finish the final fight. In this location, you will find a Gnarled Door. Make one of your party characters wear the Whispering Mask and make your way through the Gnarled Door. Once inside the room, you can enter the Underdark by activating the circle of mushrooms.
