The New Azir Changes in Patch 13.7 have started conversations in social media.
Patch 13.7 is bringing in a lot of heat to League of Legends. The number of buffs and nerfs is huge with some monumental changes. Other than champion changes, there are many significant changes like the revert on Death’s Dance and so on.
Coming back to champion changes, Riot is focusing on fixing the pro-play meta slowly by nerfing top-tier meta junglers. All the top junglers in Sejuani, Wukong, Vi, and Lee Sin were nerfed, along with changes to Olaf and Veigar. In terms of buffs, the Yasuo, Katarina and Azir changes jump out.
Azir has been a topic of conversation for the last few patches after Riot made a lot of changes to the champion. In Patch 13.4, his mana pool and Q max build got axed as the champion went into purgatory. With Azir becoming that weak, Riot had quite a dilemma on their hands.
Thus in Patch 13.7, Azir is getting some pretty big changes. The new changes coming in have left players confused. Riot has emphasized changing how Azir works for the sake of fixing his status in pro play. This has caused his Solo Queue status to dip. So, let’s talk about the new Azir changes and how exactly the new playstyle will be for the champion.

Azir Changes Patch 13.7
Let’s list out the changes before talking about them in greater detail.
- Base Stats:
- Armor: 19 >>> 22.
- Attack Speed Growth: 5% >>> 6%.
- Passive – Shurima’s Legacy:
- Duration: 30 seconds >>> 45 seconds.
- Turret Summon Range: 500 >>> 700.
- Q – Conquering Sands:
- Mana Cost: 65/70/75/80/85 >>> 70/80/90/100/110.
- Stab Range: 370 >>> 325.
- W – Arise!:
- Mana Cost: 40 >>> 40/35/30/25/20.
- Damage Per Rank: 50/60/70/80/90 >>> 50/67/84/101/118.
- Total Damage: 50-200 >>> 50-210.
Starting with his base stats, this seems to be more of a focus to make his W-build shine. His passive gets a big buff as the Turret lasts longer and can be Turret can be summoned from further away. So just those two buffs will make life a little better for Azir players. However, the real changes are in his Q and W, as Riot has doubled down on making players use a different build.
Q mana cost being up and stab range decreasing makes poking increasingly harder in the lane. Riot has emphasized this as they do not want that playstyle to exist for Azir, which was becoming a poke champion with the Luden’s Tempest build.
What has been gaining traction are his W changes. Mana cost decreases based on rank and more damage upfront when ranking up the ability. However, the total damage has not increased by much, as it is only a +10 damage buff. Spideraxe tweeted that the damage scaling for the Sand Soldiers has decreased as it starts scaling from level 10 and onwards.
The tweet is definitely out of context, as this is just the Sand Soldiers scaling. Actual total damage numbers are the same as they flipped the W damage to more per rank than per level. This is a very good change for the mid-game as Azir players will now max W. It will definitely be interesting to see how the buffs pan out and whether Riot has to take a bigger stab at it later.
