Riot is finally nerfing Olaf in Patch 13.7.
If Top Laners had to choose a champion to nerf next patch, what would they choose? Some would say Malphite, Fiora or maybe Jax, but those who have faced Olaf recently are definitely going to say, Olaf.
Olaf, The Berserker, who had once been a menace in the Jungle seasons ago, has left his old home and has made the Top lane his new home. As he did in the Jungle, he is now rampaging in the Top lane. Since the recent mini-rework, Olaf has slowly become one of the best top laners in League of Legends.
He currently stands atop the Top lane meta with a solid 52% pick rate and 10% ban rate in Solo-Queue. Additionally, he is also a very contested pick in Professional Play. He currently has a 22% presence across all the major regions, which is pretty high considering his feast-or-famine playstyle.
His ability to poke enemies down with his Q – Undertow, sustain with Passive – Berserker Rage or become literally unstoppable with Ragnarok makes him a fearsome enemy to face and frustrating to take down. Not to mention his synergy with the mythic item, Radiant Virtue, the item in conjunction with his passive, makes him nearly unkillable.
So, what is the counterplay to this public menace? Well, most of the time, nothing; he is just going to run you down. Worry not; Riot recently announced that they would be nerfing him in Patch 13.7. But, The question remains, will it be enough to take him out of the meta?

Patch 13.7 Olaf Nerfs
Here are the nerfs for Olaf that are coming in Patch 13.7.
- Passive Attack Speed: 60%-100% >>> 50%-100%
- Q Damage: 70/120/170/220/270 >> 65 / 115/165/215/265
At first glance, the nerfs look quite small, and to be frank, they are. These nerfs are intended to tone down his early game and target some of his midgame power. Since Olaf is a champion that requires to snowball to function, attacking his early game is a step in the right direction.
But are the nerfs enough to stop his reign of terror? Not entirely, but it will tone down his oppressive landing phase. His midgame will stay almost the same, though; good luck!
