Apex Legends Season 29, officially titled Overclocked, is shaping up to be one of the most gameplay-focused updates Respawn has pushed in a while. The new season is not just about adding Axle as the latest Legend. It also brings major system changes like Deathbox Respawns, Chain Healing, Legend buffs for Conduit and Vantage, loot pool updates, Ranked adjustments, and several reported weapon changes.

Respawn has already confirmed that Overclocked is built around a faster, higher-risk meta, with Axle, Deathbox Respawns, Chain Healing, and updates to Conduit and Vantage leading the season. Full Patch Notes are scheduled for May 4, 2026, so some details are still not officially locked in yet.

Apex Legends Season 29 Overclocked Patch Notes Overview

Overclocked seems to have one clear goal: make Apex feel faster. Respawn says Season 29 will push players into a high-risk, high-reward meta where movement, recovery, and fight tempo matter more than ever. That direction is obvious when looking at the biggest changes coming this season.

Axle is designed as a hypermobile Legend. Deathbox Respawns help squads recover after messy fights, Chain Healing makes resets smoother, and Conduit and Vantage are both receiving buffs to feel more active in combat. Respawn also confirmed that a larger Ranked update is planned later in Season 32, meaning Overclocked is part of a longer effort to reshape the gameโ€™s future.

New Legend Axle Headlines Season 29

The biggest addition in Apex Legends Season 29 is Axle, the new Legend joining the roster. Respawn describes her as a fast, aggressive character who can turn the battlefield into her own racetrack.

Her passive gives her increased speed and control while sliding, her tactical Nitro Gate helps launch players into high-speed rotations, and her ultimate Kickstart deploys an enemy-seeking explosive drone that can displace and disorient opponents.

Axle looks built for players who love speed, movement, and constant pressure. She will likely be one of the most popular picks at the start of the season, especially in public matches where new movement Legends usually take over quickly.

Deathbox Respawns Are the Biggest System Change

Deathbox Respawns may end up being the most important change in Overclocked. Respawn confirmed that players can now respawn teammates directly from their Deathboxes. That means squads will not always need to grab banners and rush to a Respawn Beacon after winning a difficult fight.

This could completely change how teams recover after fights. In older seasons, losing one or two teammates often meant your squad had to leave the area, find a beacon, and hope nobody pushed during the reset. With Deathbox Respawns, teams that clear and hold an area now get a new way to bring teammates back.

Respawn is balancing the mechanic with risk. Deathbox Respawns are slow, noisy, and visible to nearby enemies. Repeated deaths also create an increasing Lockout Time penalty, temporarily disabling Deathbox Respawning. So, it is not a free revive button. It is a reward for winning space, but it can also bait another fight if nearby squads hear it.

Chain Healing Makes Resets Smoother

Chain Healing is another major quality-of-life change in Apex Legends Season 29. Respawn confirmed that players can now queue another healing item while the current heal is still happening. Once the first heal finishes, the next one can start automatically depending on the playerโ€™s settings.

There are three options for Chain Healing: Off, Single, and Auto. Off keeps healing the same as before. Single lets players queue one extra heal and is the new default option. Auto continues queuing the same healing item until the player runs out of that resource or the related health pool is full.

This sounds small on paper, but it will probably feel huge in actual matches. Apex fights often come down to who resets faster after damage trades, and Chain Healing should make post-fight recovery less clunky.

Conduit Buffs in Apex Legends Season 29

Conduit is one of the confirmed Legend buffs in Season 29. Respawn says her passive, tactical, and upgrades are getting attention, with the goal of making her a more dynamic playmaker among Support Legends.

She has always been useful because of her shield-focused support kit, but faster seasons can make passive Supports feel weaker if they cannot keep up with aggressive teams. Giving Conduit more flexibility should help her fit better into Overclockedโ€™s faster meta.

According to HYPERMYST, more specific Conduit changes are also expected in the Season 29 patch notes, but players should wait for Respawnโ€™s full official notes before treating exact values as final.

Vantage Gets a Much-Needed Buff

Vantage is also getting buffed in Apex Legends Season 29. Respawn confirmed that her passive is getting an added ultimate boost, her tactical is being adjusted to make her more agile in close-range fights, and her ultimate now has improved handling with a new 2x optic.

She has always been strong at scouting and long-range pressure, but she could feel awkward when enemies forced close-range engagements. Better tactical agility and a more flexible ultimate should make her less one-dimensional.

The new 2x optic on her ultimate is especially interesting. If it feels smooth, Vantage players may be able to use Sniperโ€™s Mark more confidently in mid-range fights instead of saving it only for long-range picks.

CAR SMG Reportedly Returns to Floor Loot

One of the most interesting reported loot changes is that the CAR SMG is returning to floor loot. This change comes from HYPERMYST, so it should be treated as leak-based until Respawnโ€™s full patch notes go live.

If accurate, this could be a pretty big deal for close-range weapon balance. The CAR has always been popular because it can use both Light and Heavy ammo, making it one of the most flexible SMGs in the game. Bringing it back to floor loot would immediately make early-game fights more interesting, especially for players who like aggressive loadouts.

Trident Reportedly Removed

Tridents are being removed in Season 29. Again, this has not been confirmed in the official Overclocked update article, so it should be framed as a reported change for now.

If this goes live, it could affect rotations on maps where Tridents have been important for fast repositioning. Apex has been moving toward faster gameplay with Axle and Deathbox Respawns, so removing a vehicle option would be an interesting counterbalance depending on the map rotation.

Hemlok Changes Reportedly Coming

The Hemlok is reportedly getting changes in Season 29 as well. Alternator hop-up will now require more points, and the breached charge shot cooldown also increased.

Ranked Changes Are Also Expected

Ranked is reportedly getting changes in Apex Legends Season 29, according to HYPERMYST. Respawnโ€™s official Overclocked update does not fully detail Season 29 Ranked changes yet, but it does confirm that a Major Ranked Update is planned for Season 32.

Respawn says Ranked remains an important part of Apex and that Season 32 will bring a new look and feel for the mode.

Bots Are Reportedly Being Tested in Unranked Modes

Another reported Season 29 change is the testing of bots in unranked game modes only.

If true, this could be aimed at improving matchmaking flow, onboarding newer players, or filling certain casual lobbies more consistently. The important part is that the report specifically points to unranked modes, not ranked.

New Infinity Frag Amp Reportedly Leaked

HYPERMYST also shared a leak about a new โ€œInfinity Frag Amp.โ€ This one should be treated very carefully because it is not confirmed by Respawn and does not appear in the official Overclocked update.

Are There Any Nerfs in Apex Legends Season 29?

At the moment, Respawn has officially highlighted buffs and system changes more than nerfs. Conduit and Vantage are both confirmed to be getting improvements, while Deathbox Respawns and Chain Healing are new mechanics designed to speed up recovery and reduce downtime.

The nerfs and exact weapon balance changes should become clearer when the full patch notes go live on May 4. Until then, reported changes like Hemlok tuning, loot pool adjustments, Trident removal, and Ranked updates should be treated as early information rather than final patch notes.

Apex Legends Season 29 Overclocked looks like a major tempo shift for the game. Axle brings another movement-focused Legend into the roster, Deathbox Respawns could change how teams recover after fights, and Chain Healing should make resets smoother without removing risk entirely.
