Exophase owner Mike Bendel, known online as x3sphere, explained that the site’s automated systems were simply scanning information that had unexpectedly become available through Steam’s API. He described the situation as a possible mistake on Valve’s end rather than Exophase bypassing Steam’s security.
Reports suggest the issue appeared after Steam’s regular maintenance window, although Valve has not confirmed that maintenance was directly responsible for the bug.

Gematsu documented more than 50 affected listings, including both already announced games and projects that had not previously been formally revealed.
The leak also appears to extend beyond game names. Achievement descriptions for Kingdom Hearts IV reportedly reference previously unannounced worlds, while the Persona 6 list contains potential story information. Mega Man: Dual Override’s achievements may also reveal previously unseen Robot Masters.
Achievement Lists Could Contain Major Story Spoilers
Avoiding the leaked achievement pages might be a good idea for players who want to avoid spoilers.
Persona 6’s Exophase listing reportedly contains dozens of achievements tied to characters, locations, story progression, and gameplay mechanics. Kingdom Hearts IV’s achievement list similarly appears to expose information about worlds Square Enix has not officially detailed yet.
Screenshots and lists have since spread across gaming communities, with users frequently posting spoiler warnings as more titles are uncovered.
Not Everything in the Steam Leak Should Be Taken as Confirmation
Despite the scale of the leak, the information should still be treated carefully.
The overall collection remains unverified, even though the API exposure itself appears legitimate. One initially suspected Balatro-related project was later confirmed by Balatro creator LocalThunk to have nothing to do with the game, showing how easily unidentified entries can be misinterpreted.
Achievement names and descriptions can also change during development. As a result, listings such as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, Deus Ex Remastered, Final Fantasy Resonance, and other seemingly unannounced games should not be treated as official announcements until their publishers confirm them.
