Respawn brought single-player story elements into a battle royale game with the introduction of Apex Legends set in the Titanfall universe.
Unlike most other games in the same genre, Respawn is constantly trying to push a single-player story narrative into a living breathing multiplayer game. Players can get a glimpse into the lore of Apex Legends through all the cinematic character-related trailers called “stories from the outlands”.

Even limited time events feature some voice lines that hint at future legends or storylines that Respawn wants to explore in the future. For example, the shadow royale game mode had some voice lines from Revenant mentioning his father. And a recent nod from one of the writers suggests a future storyline focusing on Revenant’s father could be explored in the future.
Revenant’s father storylines
After a fan asked Tom Casiello who is a writer at Respawn if they are ever going to explore more into this particular storyline, he explained maybe not right away but there is a good possibility of that happening in the future.
Furthermore, he also explained every line of dialogue has a meaning and they are done in a way so that it can be explored in the future. According to Tom, these tidbits are there to build more lore and possible future content.
While the storyline focusing on Revenant’s father might not arrive right away, the seeds that Respawn planted from all those events will likely grow and become a part of the larger narrative.
However, in what form it will be added is still uncertain. Since Tom also hinted at another “broken ghost-like” epic in 2021, there is a good chance we might get to see more on the storyline between Revenant and his father.
