Riot Games went out of their way to make a kernel-level anti-cheat solution for VALORANT which is their first foray into the tactical shooter genre of video games.

Riot aptly named this in-house anti-cheat solution as ‘Vanguard’. Even though in the closed beta phase players were concerned with the overly intrusive nature of the program, the benefits are really clear as this is the most effective anti-cheat solution in the market.

In conjunction with the always-on kernel-level protection system, Riot also prefers to do manual inspections at all times since cheat makers usually find a way around vanguard. The anti-cheat developers at Riot Games go out of their way to enter discord servers where cheat makers sell their services to stop the corruption at the very core.

Vanguard making life difficult for cheat makers

Time and time again their proactive nature has proved to be a nightmare for cheat developers. Things have become so difficult for some cheat makers that they refuse to sell cheat software without proper identification.

Since some Riot developers were infiltrating these discord servers where these cheat makers operate, these frightened individuals have taken extreme measures to save their face. Now, these cheat makers only sell cheats after they verify the person at the other end of the transaction with a video call.
