When it comes to raw aiming expertise, a well-customized crosshair can make a huge impact. Even before the early 2000s, crosshairs have been an inaugural part of any competitive FPS titles. Just like the predecessors, Riot’s first-ever entry into the FPS genre also features a plethora of crosshair customization options.
VALORANT’s crosshair customization features grant the players a tremendous amount of freedom to handcraft the perfect crosshair. However, just like any other digital craft, this one is also far away from reaching perfection. World champions, seasons veterans, casuals, and almost everyone is constantly in pursuit to construct the best crosshair possible. In this guide, we will accompany you to determine the best settings for your crosshair in VALORANT.
How to Change Your Crosshair in VALORANT
By default, VALORANT offers a White crosshair with multiple layers of pre-applied customizations. Needless to say, the default crosshair is not that impressive and nowhere near what we consider as a perfect crosshair.
Moving on, let’s take a look at the first few options under the “GENERAL” menu.
- Crosshair Color: There are eight different crosshair colors available. Most of them are primary colors, except for the hybrid ones like “Green Yellow” and “Yellow Green.”
- Outlines: It sharpens the edges of your crosshair and makes it less transparent.
- Outline Opacity: Applying the total amount (1) will generate a black outline at the edges of your crosshair. Thus, the crosshair becomes more distinguishable before objects.
- Outline Thickness: It multiplies the Outline Opacity you have already applied and makes it more prominent. It’s not advisable to have fully maxed out Outline Thickness in most cases.
- Center Dot: Just like the name, this option creates a tiny dot in the center of the crosshair.
- Center Dot Opacity: It controls the transparency of the Center Dot, making it more or less visible according to your need.
- Center Dot Thickness: Similar to the Outline Thickness option, this one also thickness the size of your Center Dot from the edges.
- Fade Crosshair With Firing Error: This feature assists players to have a better grip on the weapons by fading the crosshair away from the top portion.
- Show Spectated Player’s Crosshair: This shows the individual crosshairs of your teammates in a match.
- Disable Crosshair: Pretty straightforward, and it disables your crosshair from the screen.
Inner Lines menu
Crosshairs in VALORANT contain inner lines which resemble a “Plus” sign.
- Show Inner Lines: Turn it on to see the “+” inner lines on your screen; you might want to turn it off when going for an entirely “Dot” crosshair method, more about that later.
- Inner Line Opacity: Similarly to Center Dot Opacity, this option is responsible for the visibility of the Inner lines.
- Inner Line Length: Based on the input given, it increases or decreases the size of the “+” like Inner Lines
- Inner Line Thickness: Increases or Decreases the size of the Inner Lines
- Inner Line Offset: Moves the Inner Lines to all directions proportionally. It doesn’t have much practical usage ingame.
- Movement Error: A movement pattern in the crosshair occurs as you start walking or running in the game. It’s generally idle when you are not moving. This option indicates the possible penalties you might have to face if you decide to move and shoot simultaneously.
- Firing Error: It is very similar to Movement Error; it also reminds you about the penalties on the firing accuracy you might face by moving the Inner Lines in a pattern.
Outer Lines menu
- Show Outer Lines: You can decide to have an Outer Line around your crosshair by turning it on or off.
- Outer Line Opacity: Depending on the values set, it makes your Outer Line more or less visible on the screen.
- Outer Line Length: Sets the length of the Outer Line. The maximum value is 10
- Outer Line Thickness: Identical to Inner Line Thickness, you can change the thickness of the Outer Line from this option.
- Outer Line Offset: The primary functionality resembles the Inner Line Offset option, except for the fact that it happens to the Outer Line.
- Movement & Firing Error: Based on your movement and shooting, it warns you about the potential penalties while either moving, shooting, or doing both.

Best Crosshair Tier List in VALORANT
- S-tier: The Cross, Asuna’s Crosshair
- A-tier: Sick’s Crosshair, TenZ’s Crosshair
- B-tier: Dot Crosshair, Lakia’s Corsshair, The Olofmeister
- C-tier: Boaster’s Crosshair, Aproto Box, The Bracket
Why did we pick The Cross for S Tier? The Cross is undoubtedly the best in class from many perspectives. As we have explained already, The Cross is really flexible, all-terrain capable & heavily customizable crosshair. You might need to enable Outline & change the color according to your preference. Asuna’s crosshair is also perfect for hyper-aggressive players. The overall potential of this crosshair needs no explanation since the 17-year-old entry-fragger for 100T has been overthrowing his opponents in VCT tournaments. Now, your demands may vary, but borrowing his crosshair for a few matches won’t bring any harm. Some derivates of this crosshair are also widely used by other professional players as well.
Sick’s crosshair is perfect for players who are cautious about the fights they pick. Regardless of the weapon, this crosshair is also suitable for Duelist players. However, Sick’s standard issue weapon is the Phantom; the North American dominated his opponents during Stage 2 Masters at Iceland. On the other hand, Tenz’s crosshair is also a worthy one to pick for your regular ranked matches. However, if you are looking forward to playing passive, it’s best to customize the crosshair according to your needs. One specialty of this crosshair is the Cyan color which provides good contrast and higher visibility in all VALORANT maps.
Cherished by the very few, operated by the chosen ones, the Dot crosshair offers more mystery than it can ever solve. This highly controversial crosshair has made its way to professional matches many times; despite that, many would argue not to use it in regular matches. While it might be perfect for the rebellious Guardian and Vandal users, Dot’s main downside is its visibility & contrast. In the same fashion, Lakia’s crosshair might not suit everyone’s taste. Player’s will only benefit from Lakia’s crosshair when they are able to find comfort in it. On the contrary, The Olofmesiter crosshair is a jack of all trade type general-purpose all-terrain crosshair. Although, it’s clearly not for special tasks or Operators who often rely on Handguns for personal protection.
The man, the myth, the legend, Boaster is a one-of-a-kind professional player who doesn’t require any special intro. His crosshair, however, is a bit of a “Professional Only” type since the size is challenging to adjust to. It’s also easy to fall in love with Boaster’s crosshair if you can adapt your eyesight with this crosshair. Nonetheless, if you are primarily looking forward to using unconventional weapons, the Bracket should be your first choice. It’s extremely identical to Sick’s crosshair; however, it has many trade-offs, including the same visibility issues as the Dot crosshair. Lastly, for the rebellious Sherrif-wielding Headshot enthusiasts, the Aproto Box is kind of a blessing if you are confident about your ability to neutralize enemies with any weapon you can think of. Despite such versatility, it won’t be wise to make any long-term plans about this crosshair since it’s by far the most difficult one to get used to. Experimenting with Aproto Box is another thing, but there is a limit to it.
