Riot just announced some big Turret changes for Patch 13.10.
League of Legends is an ever-evolving game. The developer of the League of Legends, Riot Games, constantly changes and makes adjustments to the game. These changes come every fourteen days and usually contain a small number of changes. But twice every year, Riot releases major updates that drastically change the game.
The first major update comes at the start of a season or preseason and another in the middle of a season or mid-season. Usually, the bulk of the changes come in the preseason, and lesser changes come in the mid-season. Since Riot didn’t change much in this year’s preseason 2023, we are getting most of the changes in the midseason.
The 2023 mid-season update, aka Patch 13.10, is coming with many new changes. First, we are getting reworks or adjustments to many items in the game. We are also getting changes to champions affected by those item changes. Also, new items are being added to the game as well.
Furthermore, some of the in-game systems are undergoing significant changes. And one of these significant changes is the adjustments of Turrets.

Turret Changes
- Plate Rushdown Resistances up (20s after taking a plate):: 0-180 (based on the number of champions) >>> 45-225 (based on the number of champions)
Since the introduction of Turret Plating, one of the biggest problems was that it allowed a team to snowball very hard by collecting Turret Plating gold. If a team takes Rift Herald, they can quickly rush down a current with numbers and gain a bunch of gold.
Though Riot attempted to offset it by introducing Plate Rushdown Resistances, it was clearly insufficient. The resistances were too low, and teams could still easily rush down a turret.
Riot is therefore increasing the resistances by a flat 45 this mid-season, which is quite significant. With the newly increased resistance, rushing down a turret should be much more difficult, thus, making snowballing considerably more difficult.
Release Date
The turret changes will be coming to the live servers on Patch 13.10, scheduled for release on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
