League of Legends’ Jungle role is scheduled to get some massive changes in patch 11.10.
Recently, on patch 11.8, Riot buffed some of the off-meta jungle champions like Zed, Darius, Mordekaiser, Morgana, and Diana once again to increase the jungle pool. Even though, Zed, Darius, and Mordekaiser are not performing that well Morgana and Diana are absolutely crushing the soloq.
Furthermore, earlier this month, Riot Games confirmed that some systemic jungle changes are coming in LoL patch 11.10 that should raise the jungle “floor”.
And now, League of Legends’ Gameplay Design Director Mark Yetter has shared some more details on the upcoming changes.
“One of our longer term goals is to increase position preference for the jungle in lower MMR,” Mark Yetter said. “We’re attacking the problem from a few angles that we think will in particular reduce some of the esoteric optimizations and help onboard newer players to the role.”
For the upcoming patch, Riot is planning on three things: more forgiving jungle clears, widen the viable champ pool, and reduced snowball.
Riot is now increasing the camp respawn timer so that jungler can now get more time to return to their camps after a missed gank or such. Even though the timer is getting increased by 15 seconds, the Jungle monster’s base attack damage is getting reduced and Jungle gold from non-buff Camps is increased.
Moreover, Riot is also planning to widen the champion pool by changing the Smite’s percent healing and jungle items Omnivamp. “We think that less reliance on having a perfect AOE clearing kit or the right CC tools to have Scuttle dominance will open up viability to a few more champs,” Riot stated.
One of the major changes of this update is that Riot is reintroducing comeback XP in patch 11.10 where the large monster will now give 50 XP per level if the players are below the average level of the game.
And lastly, Riot is also planning to bring clarity on Camp Leashing. “A particularly important skill for high level jungle optimizations is to perfectly manage the monster leash ranges and drag them into optimal positions for max clear speed,” Riot said.
