Riot has chipped in to talk about whether they would remove Duo restrictions from High MMR Games.

Since the start of Season 13, Riot has made a lot of changes to Ranked in League of Legends. At the start of the season, Riot introduced the two Split systems, both of which offer different rewards and will have a different Victorious Skin each. Also, the requirement to get Victorious skins was changed along with other adjustments.

Split 1 has ended since then, and players who met the requirements will receive their Victorious skins in due time. Victorious Anivia was the big reward for Split 1. Now, we move on to Split 2, where Riot has made more changes. A soft reset was done so that players could climb faster.

Split 2 brings in some massive changes like the addition of the new tier, Emerald, the shortening of placements and the removal of promotion games. All in all, Riot aims to reduce the curve and make it more even for the lower ELO tiers.

With all of this, there was always a controversy in terms of Duo queue in High MMR. There has been some clamoring about getting it back, and Riot has answered as to what they think about it currently and what could happen in the future. Here is what we know so far.

Will Riot Remove Duo Restrictions in High MMR?

Spideraxe shared a screenshot of Riot Meddler commenting on a potential removal of Duo Restrictions in high MMR.

According to Riot Meddler, they explored the possibility of bringing back Duo in High MMR and even talked about removing it entirely from the game mode. This is because Riot wants to remove as many limitations on social play as possible.

However, the current state is not dire or significant enough that it requires the reintroduction of Duo queueing in High MMR. This would reintroduce the old issues once more without changes to the system as a whole.

Riot is not completely taking it off the table, but it is not returning anytime soon right now. For now, the status of the Solo/Duo queue will remain the same.
