In a recent update, Riot talked about whether Arena will become a permanent Game Mode in League of Legends.
With the Arena game mode launched in League of Legends, we have seen quite a lot of hype around League of Legends. That, along with Tournament of Souls, has rejuvenated the casual player base to try the new stuff in the game.
Since the release, Riot has released a dev blog on Arena that was written before the game mode came out. It gives an insight into what Riot was thinking with the game mode. The devs have shown that they want to balance the game as much as possible with hotfixes and more changes coming in Arena 13.15.
With so many Augments, Cameos, and such, Arena is extremely replayable. However, with the success of the game mode, it has asked more questions about whether Riot will make it into a permanent game mode. Will Arena Return to League of Legends?
In the dev blog, the game modes team talked about how excited they are about Arena being in League of Legends. As for whether it will become a permanent game mode, we must first gauge whether the game mode will return. Riot has laid out three points that will determine whether that will determine the status of Arena returning.
- Will the game mode be satisfying for players?
- Do players that do not want to play Ranked games partake in this game mode?
- Is there a consistent number of players that keep playing Arena after the novelty wears off?
So if Riot can judge the game mode on these three points, they can determine the status of the future of Arena. Riot did mention that if it ticks the boxes, they will bring it back sooner rather than later. Now let’s move on to whether Riot will make Arena into a permanent game mode.
Will Arena Become A Permanent Game Mode?
As for the latest news on the dev blog, it is hard for Riot to say whether they will make it permanent. According to Riot, they will determine whether Arena will make a return first. After that, if the game mode gets consistent players, Riot will decide whether they should make Arena permanent.
Riot also said that they will provide an update on this in the next dev video, which will come out sometime in late August or early September.
