After several months of waiting, Riot finally unveiled Naafiri, League of Legends’ upcoming champion.
In the middle of last year, Riot released a roadmap detailing what is coming in the preseason 2023. Additionally, they also teased some new champions that would make their way to the game in the future. One of these champions was Naafiri.
At the time, she was only known as the Darkin Assassin. In the same video, Riot hinted that she might be a dog. And besides that, nothing else was known about her.
Furthermore, at the end of the year, Riot released a roadmap for season 13. And in that video, the only revealed information was that she would be extremely easy to pick up and learn.
Even after releasing the last champion, Milio, Riot did not officially reveal much about Naafiri. And the leaks that did surface about her were very vague. But players were still very excited about her as Naafiri would be the first Darkin released in a long time. The last time Riot released a Darkin was with Kayn, especially with his red form.
Recently, Riot has finally released the cinematic trailer for Naafiri. Here’s everything you have to know about it.

League of Legends Upcoming Champion: Naafiri
As stated before, Naafiri’s trailer was released recently and was worth the wait. This video mainly focuses on her lore more than anything. But it finally showcased Naafiri properly, as well as her pack.
On the lore side, this video shows the origin of Naafiri, specifically how she is the host of the entire pack of dogs. Initially, a shuriman was transporting Naafiri’s dagger to somewhere else. Then in the middle of the journey, he was attacked by many shuriman dogs. And in that incident, Naafiri took control of these dogs.
And then, the video flashes back to a war in Shurima, presumably the void war. In this war, most Darkins were captured and imprisoned in their weapons.
Additionally, we can hear a monologue from Naafiri. In the monologue, she talks about hunting a lone prey with her pack.
Release Date
Naafiri is expected to release in League of Legends on patch 13.14, scheduled for Thursday, July 20, 2023.
