Now, Scarlet and Violet introduced the generation 9 Pokemon to the players. But the ability patch has made its way to this generation too.
Ability patch brings out the hidden ability of a Pokemon. Not all the Pokemon in the game have a hidden ability. But for those that do have one, there is a 1 in 250 chance of getting the hidden ability. So it is extremely rare to find Pokemon with a hidden ability. Ability patch brings out the hidden ability upon usage. So it is a very sought item in the game.
However, because they are such a good item, they are also extremely rare to find. You have to do a certain series of work to even unlock the item. So here is how you can get an Ability Patch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Get Ability Patch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
To get an ability patch, first, you will need to unlock it in the game. This item can only be obtained at the post-game. Here are the tasks you need to complete first:
- Complete all three main quest
- Complete the final “The Way Home” quest.
- Defeat all Gym leaders at the rematch after completing the game.
- Win the Ace academy tournament at the Academy.
After you have done all that, you can finally unlock the 6-star raids in the Paldea region. If you haven’t made any progress on the tera raids, then do the lower star raids until the higher stars arrive. When the first 6-star raids arrive, you will get a call from Jacq letting you know about it.
It is in these 6-star raids you will have a chance to get the Ability Patch. There is a 4-5% drop rate for this item in a 6-star raid. You can boost the item drop rate on the raids by using Raid Power sandwich before joining a raid.
6-Star raids show up every day in the Paldea region. Once you have beaten them, you cannot find anymore on that day. So check every day and complete the 6-star raids, and eventually, you will be able to get an ability patch to bring out the hidden ability of your Pokemon.
