The new Tank item, Unending Despair, makes tanks even tankier.
League of Legends Preseason 2024 is here, and it’s looking to be one of the biggest preseasons yet. Unlike last year’s disaster of a preseason, this year, Riot is stepping up their game. Thus, we are actually getting a ton of fun and exciting changes to the game.
For Preseason 2024, Riot is bringing us a New Map, a revamped Baron Nashor, a new Rift Herald mechanic, and Drake changes. But the most significant changes coming this Preseason are the item changes.
Since Riot is removing Mythic Items from the game, we are getting some brand-new items instead. In this article, we are going to take a look at one of the new items called Unending Despair. It’s a new tank item specializing in team fights and extended combat scenarios.
So, without any further ado, let us take a closer look at the new Tank item, Unending Despair.

Unending Despair

- Total Cost: 2800 gold
- Item Recipe: Chain Vest + Kindlegem + Ruby Crystal + 800 gold
- 400 Health
- 55 Armor
- 10 Ability Haste
- Passive: While in combat with champions, every 7 seconds, dealing magic damage to nearby enemy champions, healing for 175% of the damage dealt.
At first glance, Unending Despair seems like another run-of-the-mill Tank item. It gives 400 Health, 55 Armor, and 10 Ability haste. But what makes the item stand out from the other Tank items is its passive.
Its passive Anguish deals Magic damage to all nearby champions every seven seconds. In addition, the user is healed 250% of the damage dealt. So, champions with tons of sticking power, like Maokai, Amumu, and Gragas, will now be much more effective in team fights and even in 1v1s.
That said, the item requires the user to remain in combat for an extended period of time. So, it will be pretty hard to proc an item against high mobility champions.
Overall, it’s a pretty decent Top Lane item, especially against AD Juggernauts.
Release Date
Unending Despair, along with all the new items, will arrive in League of Legends in Patch 14.1, which is scheduled to be released in early January.
