With Worlds 2024 coming to an end, here are the most picked and banned champions in the tournament.
The League of Legends Worlds 2024 has been quite a blast to watch. The tournament was filled with narratives, many upsets, and, most important of all, exciting matches.
Let’s start with the Play-Ins first. It was the best showing in years for minor region teams, especially the Latin American teams. LLA’s Movistar R7 managed to beat NA’s third seed 100 Thieves in the first round, which led to them being eliminated by PSG Talon in Round three. While CBLOL’ Pain Gaming managed to qualify for the Swiss Stage by beating Movistar R7 in a close 2-1. The teams that qualified for the Swiss Stage were Pain Gaming, PSG Talon, Mad Lions KOI, and GAM Esports.
Similar to last year’s Swiss State, this year was a bloodbath. Both LCK’s Gen.G and LPL’s LNG managed to advance to the next stage without losing a single series. G2 Esports, the most promising Western team again failed to qualify, however, they had the hardest draw in the Swiss Stage. Ultimately all LPL teams advanced to the Knockout Stage, three of the four LCK teams advanced, and the number one seed from NA, Fly Quest managed to advance.
The Knockout Stage is where things start getting interesting. In the Quarterfinals bracket, on one side of the bracket, there was one of the tournament favorites, LPL’s number one seed JDG, on the other hand, there was LCK’s second seed, another tournament favorite, the MSI champions, Gen.G.
WBG managed to knockout LNG in 3-1 fashion, while BLG took out LCK’s first seed HLE. On the other side of the bracket, the 2023 World champions, T1, who struggled the whole year, managed to 3-0 against LPL’s second-seed Top Esports. The North American number one seed Fly Quest fought well against Gen.G but unfortunately, they were knocked out in a 3-2 fashion.
Now to the Semifinals, it was a repeat of the last year, WBG vs BLG. Last year WBG knocked out BLG but this year it was the opposite. While on the other side, T1 made the greatest upset in the tournament by beating Gen.G 3-1.
It’s now the finals it’s the GOAT Faker vs Knight, who would win? Knight played quite well throughout the five-game series but it was Faker’s clutch plays that led T1 to victory, netting Faker his 5th title.
Now with the tournament’s conclusion let’s talk about the pick bans. There were quite a few champions that had a high Pick/Ban rate. So, Here is the list according to all the games that happened in Worlds 2024.
