Marvel Rivals Season 9 has a locked release date, and NetEase actually gave players a firm time this go around instead of leaving everyone guessing. Here is exactly when the update goes live wherever you are, plus what to expect when the servers flip back on.

When Does Marvel Rivals Season 9 Come Out?

NetEase has confirmed that Marvel Rivals Season 9 launches on Friday, July 10, at 9 AM UTC. Also, that is the moment the current season closes out, and the servers begin their downtime. The good news is that this time got an official stamp from the developer, so you are not working off leaks or guesswork for once.

Here is the catch that trips people up every season, though. The season will not be playable once the clock hits 9 am UTC, since the update comes with server maintenance. So do not panic when you log in at 9 AM UTC and the new hero is nowhere to be found. That is expected.

The launch is global, meaning everyone hits the same 9 AM UTC mark at the same real-world moment. Your clock just reads differently depending on where you are sitting. Here is the breakdown for the major regions:

  • US Pacific (PDT): 2:00 AM on July 10, playable around 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM
  • US Eastern (EDT): 5:00 AM on July 10, playable around 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM
  • United Kingdom (BST): 10:00 AM on July 10, playable around 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
  • Central Europe (CEST): 11:00 AM on July 10, playable around 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
  • India (IST): 2:30 PM on July 10, playable around 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
  • China (CST): 5:00 PM on July 10, playable around 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Japan and Korea (JST / KST): 6:00 PM on July 10, playable around 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Australia (AEST): 7:00 PM on July 10, playable around 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Spare a thought for the Pacific coast crowd this season. A 2 AM start is brutal, and the playable window lands right in the middle of the night. Meanwhile, Australia gets a very civilised evening launch for once.

How Long Is Server Maintenance for Season 9?

Game servers will go down for at least two hours, but as soon as they come back up, the new content will be available. Based on past seasons, the downtime usually stretches closer to two or three hours in practice.

Marvel Rivals servers should be back up by noon UTC, and Season 9 will be playable right after. So if you want a clean target, noon UTC is your realistic go time, no matter where you live. Add or subtract from there based on the table above.

One small tip worth keeping in mind. Season resets always bring a flood of returning players hammering the servers at once, so login queues on day one are pretty much guaranteed. Getting into the lobby a little early tends to save you some grief.

What Is Coming in Marvel Rivals Season 9?

Season 9 is shaping up to be one of the biggest drops the game has seen. The main highlight is Jubilee finally joining the roster as a Strategist who sets off fireworks on the battlefield, with explosive energy blasts that heal allies while dealing serious damage to enemies. The Hood is confirmed to follow her later in Season 9.5, so the mutant support gets the spotlight first.

Beyond the new hero, there is a fresh Battle Pass with free Units and costumes, a Black Widow rework that fans have been begging for, and a full overhaul of the team-up system. Every hero will now have two team-up abilities that players choose between in the spawn room. On top of that, Season 9 introduces Regenerative Shields, a new health type that slowly regenerates after players avoid damage for a few seconds. That alone could shake the meta up in a big way.

Quick heads up, if you have any codes sitting unredeemed. Some active Marvel Rivals codes may stop working once the new season goes live, so it is worth cashing those in before July 10 rolls around.
