After much anticipation, Riot has finally reworked the Honor system. Here’s everything you need to know.
League of Legends is a team-based game. Therefore, you will meet many kinds of unique and diverse players. Moreover, many people among them are very toxic and disruptive. And they are very common in game modes like ranked. Since they are not fun to play with or even against, Riot Games tries their hardest to reduce these kinds of players.
Not too long ago, in patch 14.9, Riot Games made some behavioral changes to the game. These changes are when there are disruptive players in your team then you would receive, LP consolation, autofill protection, XP boosts, and ARAM rerolls. Additionally, the punishment for the disruptive player was also increased as well. These changes were overall very well received by the player base and made the overall ranked experience far better.
Besides that, to encourage players to be more friendly, there is also a system in League of Legends called the honor system. After a match, players can give honor to any one of their preferred teammates and they would receive a reward. These rewards include key fragments, keys, emotes, and even champion skins.
Many years ago, Riot removed the ability to honor your opponents. And now they are finally bringing it back alongside a few changes.

Reworked Honor System
- Now you can honor opponent players
- You can honor multiple players in the same lobby
- Rewards are going to get even better, especially in the lower honor levels
- No confirmed release dates yet, but we should get this new rework soon
As stated before, honoring your opponent used to be a feature back in 2017. However, Riot removed it for many reasons. Firstly, they wanted to make teamwork more prominent. And since you could only honor one of your teammates, that honor held a lot of value. But this honor system also had a side effect where players would only honor their best-performing teammate, even though you could have offered that honor to a friendly teammate, who had a good insight, or had good strategies. Not only that but sometimes you would also find very good and friendly opponents that you vibed with in the chat. However, you could not give them an honor as a reward.
With the new honor system, now you could again honor your opponents. Not only that, you can now honor multiple players in your lobby. As for how many players you could honor at once, Riot has not revealed it just yet. But we will find out about it very soon.
Alongside the new changes, Riot has confirmed that they are also updating the rewards for the honor system. The main reason for that is the current honor rewards do not feel honorable. Therefore, we could see some massive changes to the honor system rewards sometime in the near future. For now, we have to wait and see.
