Riot has revealed the upcoming dragon ADC coming to League of Legends, Smolder.
Since the release of this game in 2009, champions have been an iconic part of League of Legends. And we get many new champions every year as they offer more unique gameplay and variety.
Even though we didn’t get that many champions last year, all of them were unique in their way. The first champion we got that year was Milio, an enchanter support from Ixtal. Even though he got his first nerf just a couple of hours after his release, he is a balanced character overall. Afterwards, we got our first Darkin champion in years. That character was Naafiri. Like Milio, Naafiri didn’t create that much harm in the meta and was overall well liked.
The next champion we got in this season was Briar. And unlike the previous two champions, she has become a hard champion to balance. Currently, Briar is one of the champions who gets nerfed every single patch, yet she is still at the top of the meta. Then, finally, we got Hwei. Because of his complex kit, he is currently the worst character in the game regarding win rate.
Slightly before Hwei’s release, Riot released a champion roadmap blog. In it, they showed off some of the upcoming champions. One of them was a small-dragon champion. And since season 14 is right around the corner, Riot has finally revealed the dragon ADC, Smolder.

League of Legends: Smolder
Smolder is the upcoming dragon ADC coming to the game. He will be a small champion in size and will breathe fire. Besides that, we don’t know anything about his gameplay. And design-wise, he fits closer to Gnar than any other champion.
As for his lore, he is part of Royalty. He mentions Camavore in his trailer; however, Camavore has collapsed in the current time in the lore. So it’s up in the air what Riot would do.
The last ADC we got in the game was Zeri, who was extremely unique. So, it’s exciting to see what this new ADC will offer to the game.
Release Date
Smolder is expected to be released in Patch 14.2, scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
