League of Legends is getting another gameplay shake-up with the upcoming Pandemonium season, and this time, Riot seems focused on giving players more room to experiment. According to Riotโs latest dev update, Deathfire Touch and Stormraiderโs Surge are returning as keystones this season, while new starting items and omnivamp boots are also on the way. Riot says these changes are meant to support alternate builds and expand champion identity rather than completely reinvent the game again.
That approach alone makes this update interesting. Instead of one giant system overhaul, Pandemonium looks like a season built around smaller but meaningful changes. If these additions land well, they could open the door for some old playstyles to come back and some forgotten champions to feel fresh again.
Deathfire Touch and Stormraiderโs Surge are making a comeback
The biggest headline here is easily the return of Deathfire Touch and Stormraiderโs Surge. Riot officially confirmed both runes are coming back in the Pandemonium season, with Stormraiderโs Surge set to replace Phase Rush as an alternative movement speed keystone. The goal seems pretty clear. Riot wants more build and rune diversity, especially for champions that do not feel fully served by the current options.
Based on early leaks, Deathfire Touch applies a burning effect when you damage a champion with an ability. The burn scales from 1 to 10 based on level, with bonus scaling from both AD and adaptive damage. After burning for 3 seconds, the effect ramps up and deals 100 percent increased burn damage while the target remains on fire.
Stormraiderโs Surge, on the other hand, looks designed for burst champions who want to hit hard and reposition instantly. The leaked tooltip says dealing 25 percent of a championโs maximum health within 3 seconds grants 40 percent move speed and 50 percent slow resistance for 3 seconds. It also notes that the move speed is 75 percent effective for ranged champions, with a cooldown between 20 and 10 seconds.
Doranโs Bow could become a new favorite for aggressive starts
Pandemonium is also introducing two new starting items, and Doranโs Bow immediately stands out as the more aggressive option. Riot confirmed in its dev update that two new starting items are being added this season, and early previews suggest they are meant to widen early game choices across different lanes.
From the leaked image, Doranโs Bow costs 400 gold and gives 6 Attack Damage, 15 percent Attack Speed, and 1.5 percent Omnivamp. That is a pretty spicy mix for a starter item. It looks like something that could appeal to auto-attack heavy champions who want stronger early trades without giving up too much sustain.
There is real potential here for ADCs, ranged tops, and even some off-meta picks to test this item. If Riot is serious about encouraging alternate builds, Doranโs Bow feels like the kind of item that could quietly reshape early lane patterns.
Doranโs Helm adds a tankier starter option
The second new starter item is Doranโs Helm, and it looks like Riot wants it to serve as a sturdier lane choice. According to the leak, the item costs 450 gold and grants 110 Health, 10 Armor, and 10 Magic Resist. It also has a passive called Helping Hand, which causes attacks to deal 5 bonus physical damage to minions.
That combination makes Doranโs Helm feel less like a flashy item and more like a dependable one. It looks built for champions who want safer lane survival, extra all-around defenses, and a little help securing farm. Top laners in rough matchups could get a lot of value out of it, and some mid lane or support experiments would not be surprising either.
This is also where Riotโs broader Pandemonium philosophy starts to show. These items are not just stat sticks. They are targeted options that could let players tailor their lane start more carefully depending on the matchup and game plan.
Gluttonous Greaves bring omnivamp to boots
Another major addition is Gluttonous Greaves, a new pair of boots that Riot has already teased as part of the seasonโs item adjustments. Riot specifically mentioned new omnivamp boots in the official dev update, and the leaked item image gives us a much clearer look at what they do.
Gluttonous Greaves reportedly cost 950 gold and offer 45 Move Speed plus 4 percent Omnivamp. Their passive, Slay, gives 1 percent Omnivamp on champion takedown, stacking up to 6 times. That sounds like a snowball item through and through. Champions that thrive in extended fights or chain takedowns could get serious value from these boots.
The idea of omnivamp boots alone is going to turn heads. Sustain is always dangerous when it becomes too easy to slot into builds, so these boots will probably be one of the first things players watch closely once the patch goes live.
Immortal Path looks like a mid lane upgrade with big snowball potential
The leak also shows a mid-lane quest upgrade called Immortal Path. It appears to be locked until a quest is completed and seems to build on Gluttonous Greaves.
Immortal Path keeps the 45 Move Speed and 4 percent Omnivamp, along with the same Slay passive that stacks omnivamp on takedowns. But it also adds a second passive called Now and Forever. While above half health, you deal 5 percent increased damage. While below half health, you gain 15 percent increased healing, shielding, and regeneration.
If that version ships close to how it appears in the leak, mid lane players are going to have a lot to test. It reads like an item designed to reward constant skirmishing while still giving value, whether you are ahead or barely hanging on in a fight. That kind of flexibility could make it very attractive on snowball assassins, battlemages, and certain bruiser mids.
The most interesting thing about Pandemonium is not just that old runes are returning, or that new items are being added. It seems Riot is leaning into playstyle variety again. In its own words, the studio wants to create more alternate builds and better support different champion identities this season.
