Apex Legends players in Brazil are reportedly facing major changes to the game’s monetization system, with Apex Packs no longer available for purchase and parts of the Battle Pass being reworked for the region.
According to a new report from insider HYPERMYST, Brazilian players can no longer purchase Apex Packs using Apex Coins. Apex Packs included in the Premium Battle Pass are also reportedly being replaced with Crafting Metals, while the Ultimate and Ultimate+ Battle Pass tiers are unavailable in the country.
The changes appear to be connected to Brazil’s Digital ECA legislation, which introduces stricter protections for children and teenagers across online services, including specific restrictions surrounding loot boxes in video games.

Apex Packs Can No Longer Be Purchased in Brazil
Under the newly reported system, Brazilian Apex Legends players are unable to spend Apex Coins directly on Apex Packs.
Normally, a standard Apex Pack costs 100 Apex Coins, while Epic and Legendary packs can also be sold at higher prices. EA says that Apex Coins can generally be used to purchase packs, but it also makes clear that certain items are not available in all territories.
Apex Packs contain randomized cosmetic items or Crafting Metals, which makes them fall under the broader category of loot boxes.
EA has already acknowledged that its services in Brazil are being adjusted to comply with the Digital ECA. The company specifically lists “random content mechanics,” including loot boxes, among the features that may be affected for Brazilian accounts.
Crafting Metals Reportedly Replace Battle Pass Apex Packs
The changes also appear to extend to the Apex Legends Battle Pass.
According to HYPERMYST, Apex Packs that would normally appear as rewards on the Premium Battle Pass are being replaced with Crafting Metals for players in Brazil.
So, that would allow players to directly select and craft eligible cosmetics rather than receiving randomized items from packs.
Before these changes, Apex Battle Passes regularly included several Apex Packs. EA’s official Battle Pass information lists packs among both Premium and additional Ultimate rewards, while also noting that Apex Packs are not available in every territory.
Ultimate and Ultimate+ Battle Passes Reportedly Unavailable
Brazilian players are also reportedly unable to purchase the Ultimate and Ultimate+ versions of the Battle Pass.
Those tiers traditionally contain additional Apex Packs as instant rewards. For example, previous Ultimate Battle Pass offerings included eight instant Apex Packs alongside 1,200 Crafting Metals.
If Apex Packs are being removed from monetized offerings in Brazil, those bundled rewards could explain why EA has temporarily or permanently removed the higher Battle Pass tiers from sale in the region.
EA has not yet published a detailed breakdown confirming how every Brazil-specific Battle Pass reward will work going forward.
Brazil’s Digital ECA Targets Loot Boxes
Brazil’s Digital ECA law specifically prohibits loot boxes in games aimed at children and teenagers or games considered likely to be accessed by them.
Regulations published alongside the law state that games containing loot boxes must verify players’ ages and prevent children and teenagers from accessing the feature. Alternatively, publishers can provide versions of their games without loot boxes or restrict access to the feature by default.
Brazil’s government describes loot boxes as randomized rewards acquired through payments or in-game currencies and says the restrictions are intended to protect younger players.
The reported Apex Legends changes therefore line up closely with the country’s new regulatory requirements.
As of writing, the removal of Apex Pack purchases, Battle Pass reward replacements, and unavailable Ultimate tiers appear to be Brazil-specific. EA has not announced similar changes for Apex Legends players worldwide.
