One of the newest items in League of Legends, Jak’Sho, is receiving massive nerfs in the upcoming patch 12.23B.

In this preseason, Riot introduced, re-introduced, and updated many items. Moreover, all the new mythic items they introduced were tank items, like Heartsteel, Radiant Virtue, and Jak’Sho, The Protean.

Jak’Sho is a mythic tank item with stats similar to other mythic items. But what makes it unique is its passive, Voidborn Resilience. It grants its user bonus armor and magic resistance for each second they stay in combat against an enemy champion. The player can instantly deal max health magic damage to nearby enemies at max stacks. Moreover, the player can heal for the same amount for each enemy damaged.

This type of item is good for tanks, as they can solo skirmish their lane opponent efficiently. Unfortunately, Riot did not anticipate that the bruiser champions would abuse this item even more than tanks.

As it provides good sustain and a good source of damage, champions like Aatrox, Warwick, and Lillia can abuse this item more efficiently than tanks. Because of this, in patch 12.23B, Jak’Sho, The Protean, will receive a substantial nerf.

Jak’Sho Nerfs Patch 12.23b

  • Cost increased from 3000 to 3100
  • Resists per stack reduced from 3 to 2 (max 24 to 16)

The current issue with Jak’Sho is that it’s stronger with Bruisers than with tanks. Even though tanks like Rammus are back in the spotlight thanks to the mythic item, bruiser champions can deal more damage while being able to resist more damage with Jak’sho.

Before the introduction of this item, Aatrox had a win rate of 49.64%. Moreover, Lillia also had a similar 49.51% win rate. After the preseason patch, Aatrox’s win rate increased to 50.29%, and Lillia’s win rate skyrocketed to 53.01%. Likewise, many other champions’ win rates substantially increased thanks to Jak’Sho.

For its nerfs, Riot has increased its cost from 3000 to 3100. Now the laner has to farm even more and play smarter to purchase the item earlier. Moreover, Riot has also reverted its buff, which they released in patch 12.22B. Riot buffed its resists per stack, max stack amount, and % resists per max stack. While they will keep the % resists per max stack, they will reduce the resist per stack from 3 to 2.
