Valve has revamped the inventory drop system for Counter-Strike 2. Here’s how the Care Package works.
The release of Counter-Strike 2 worldwide marks a new era for Valve’s tactical shooter. With patches coming every other day, the developers are working hard to make CS2 the best it can be. It’s still early days, but there are already massive differences from the previous iterations of Counter-Strike
One of the more striking features of the new game is the introduction of the Care Package system. While at first glance it looks like a new addition, in actuality, it is just a remodel of the previous drop system.

What is the Weekly Care Package System?
The Care Package is the new weekly drop system for Counter-Strike 2. It lets you choose 2 items from 4 randomized drops. The options being 1 Weapons Case, 1 Weapon Skin, and 2 Graffitis. You can choose whichever skin, case, or graffiti you want. This is different from CS:GO, where the weekly drop was a randomized case along with either graffiti or skin.
This addition is generally well-liked by the community, as players will have a say in getting the drops they want. The drop system resets weekly, so nobody can spam collect cases. This also helps reduce the clutter of the inventory, which is filled with unwanted graffiti.
How to Redeem the Care Package?
Redeeming the drops is simpler than it seems. Since the drop system in Global Offensive was automated, players might be confused as to how this new system works. The rewards and the options are still the same. Valve only added the option to choose your own rewards. In case you haven’t redeemed your drop, here’s how you can do it:
- You will need to level up once during a single week. Check to see how much XP is needed to level up and be eligible for the drop. You may only redeem packages once a week before they reset for the next week.
- Complete your level-up and return to the main menu.
- After you have leveled up and are eligible for a drop, you can see the pop-up in your main menu. Otherwise, you can navigate to the store tab and choose from there!
The new drop system might be tweaked further, just like how Valve changed it to a weekly level-up drop to combat bots. With the new freedom of the Source 2 Engine, Valve is definitely going to up their game and make the player experience even more seamless.
