Here are all the games announced at the PlayStation’s first 2024 State of Play.

Sony held its first State of Play of 2024 today, showcasing many games hitting the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 the following year. Single-player exclusives such as Death Stranding 2, Rise of the Ronin, Until Dawn, and Stellar Blade were among the games showcased. Konami also showcased two new Silent Hill games, one shadow-dropped today.

Everything Announced at the January 2024 State of Play

Helldivers 2

The 2024 PlayStation State of Play event started with a new launch trailer for Helldivers 2, which will be released on February 8, 2024. In the trailer, the Helldivers were fighting various hostile entities, including giant creatures and towering mechs. The launch trailer also showed a walking mech, which players can pilot and take to battle.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

Kojima Productions’ sequel to Death Stranding was one of the biggest announcements at the 2024 State of Play, and the game’s official title is now Death Stranding: On the Beach. We have an extended look at Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile’s next adventure in another mind-bending trailer. The trailer also gave a first look at Elle Fanning’s character in Death Stranding 2.

Kojima Productions revealed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released in 2025. In addition, Hideo Kojima confirmed that he is collaborating with PlayStation Studios for another game named PHYSINT. The upcoming game will be a “next-generation action-espionage game” that will transcend the barriers between games and movies.

Stellar Blade

Next, we got Stellar Blade, the new action-adventure game from developer Shift Up and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment. Formerly known as Project Eve and one of the earliest announced titles for the PlayStation 5, the event showcased the characters, world, and gameplay.

Stellar Blade is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where humans have been driven to a colony by a mysterious enemy. Eve, the main character, teams up with Adam and Lily to defeat hostile survivors and mech-like enemies. Eve will engage in stylish action combat with swords and guns.

Stellar Blade is set to launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on April 26, 2024.

Zenless Zone Zero

Hoyoverse announced Zenless Zone Zero, the brand-new action RPG, is in development for PlayStation 5. However, no exact release date was announced, but the producer of Zenless Zone Zero, Zhenyu Li, stated that the game will be released later in 2024.

Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill: The Short Message

Silent Hill had a surprisingly big presence during this State of Play. It began with the reveal of a first-person game titled Silent Hill: The Short Message, a free experience that will be released today.

Then, we got our first in-depth look at Konami and Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2. The trailer shows James Sunderland fighting and exploring the Wood Side Apartments from the original game. However, Konami did not announce a release date for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, and the trailer ended with a “Now In Development” message.

Judas

Judas, is the mysterious sci-fi adventure from BioShock creator Ken Levine and Ghost Story Games, was revealed at the PlayStation 2024 State of Play. Judas is a first-person combat game that resembles Ken Levine’s original work.

Judas is set in Mayflower, a spacefaring city where citizens are trained to spy on each other and engage in combat for the slightest reason. Machines control everything in the world of Judas, including business, art, and government. No release date for Judas was announced at the PlayStation 2024 State of Play.

Until Dawn Remaster

An enhanced version of Until Dawn was announced at the State of Play event. The remastered version of Until Dawn will be developed by Ballistic Moon for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.

The narrative horror game will be completely remastered using Unreal Engine 5, and character performances, environments, and graphics have been upgraded. Until Dawn features an all-star cast that includes Academy Award-winning actor Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, Peter Stormare, Larry Fessenden, etc.

The remastered version of Until Dawn will be released later in 2024.

Rise of the Ronin

Rise of the Ronin, the upcoming open-world Samurai epic game from Team Ninja, was showcased at the State of Play live stream. The game is set during the late 19th-century Edo period in Japan, and we saw an extended preview trailer for the game at the event.

The extended trailer showcased the combat, world, and players’ choices that will affect the world around them in the game. Rise of the Ronin will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on March 22, 2024.

Sonic x Shadow Generations

Sega revealed Sonic x Shadow Generations, an enhanced remaster of Sonic Generations with additional content starring Shadow the Hedgehog. The teaser trailer featured new levels where Shadow takes the lead roles and the same levels from the 2011 original Sonic Generations.

Sonic x Shadow Generations will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC in Autumn 2024.

PlayStation VR2 Games and Everything Else

  • Legendary Tales was announced for PlayStation VR2 and will release on February 8.
  • Metro Awakening VR was announced for PlayStation VR2 and will launch later in 2024.
  • Foamstars launch trailer for PlayStation 5 revealed, and will release on March 5, 2024.
  • Dave the Diver is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in April 2024. A free Godzilla DLC will be released in May.
  • V Rising is coming to PlayStation 5 after exiting Early Access in 2024.
  • The new Dragon’s Dogma 2 trailer showcases Warfarer vocation and will be released on March 22, 2024.
