Sony Announces 2024’s First State of Play, Airs on January 31, 2024

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the State of Play at the end of January, showcasing all the new PlayStation titles.

Sony announced this year’s first PlayStation State of Play event, which will broadcast on Thursday, January 31. The show would be over 40 minutes long and cover over 15 upcoming PlayStation games, including Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade. In addition, the event will also showcase new games coming to PS VR2 later this year.

Nick Baker of XboxEra had previously stated the date of the upcoming State of Play, and would feature games like Death Stranding 2 and Silent Hill 2 remake. PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst posted the announcement on the PlayStation Blog earlier today announcing the State of Play and some of the upcoming games the live stream will showcase.

State of Play will be broadcast on the official PlayStation Twitch, YouTube and TikTok. The show will kick off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT on January 31, 2024.

Hermen Hulst, the current head of PlayStation Studios, said on the PlayStation blog,

Hi everyone, 2024 has just begun and it’s time for our very first State of Play!

The broadcast will be over 40 minutes long, and feature guest appearances from some of the most talented minds in gaming. Among many other updates, we’ll feature extended looks at Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, two great games coming to PS5 this year. And we’ll give you a new look at other titles coming to PS5 and PS VR2 in 2024 and beyond.

The official PlayStation account also announced the State of Play livestream on Twitter/X.

While Sony only mentions Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade in the announcement, there have been rumors that we might see more of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the livestream. Also, there is a strong possibility that the event might announce a Until Dawn remaster for the PlayStation 5.

According to Nick Baker of XboxEra, Sony might showcase Judas, an upcoming title by the BioShock creator Ken Levine, and a new Sonic the Hedgehog game. Another source claimed that the State of Play livestream will also reveal the upcoming multiplayer title Concord by Firewalk Studios.
