One of the most anticipated reworks, Aurelion Sol rework’s release date, has been potentially revealed.
League of Legends was released over a decade ago. When the game was initially released, there were around 40 champions. But now, there are over 162 different champions in the game. Because of this, Riot has to constantly balance the game so that most champions can be relevant and keep up with the meta.
But sometimes, some of the champions become unplayable in the core, or it’s hard to balance them. So in those times, Riot opts for a rework to make the champions relevant again.
The last champion who received a rework is Udyr. As he was one of the first champions released in League of Legends, his kit became highly dated. But after his rework, he was doing better than ever in the meta. Even though he was over-tuned when the rework was released, players reacted positively to the changes.
Later in preseason 2023, Riot announced that they were trying out a new type of update called CGU, and they were testing this update out with Aurelion Sol.
CGU, or Comprehensive Gameplay Update, is a new type of update where Riot overhauls the entire kit of a champion without changing their visuals.
But unfortunately, a couple of months ago, Riot delayed Aurelion Sol’s rework. But recently, Riot King Cobra potentially confirmed Aurelion Sol’s rework’s release date on Discord.

Aurelion Sol Rework Release Date
As stated before, Riot King Cobra confirmed on Discord that Aurelion Sol’s CGU will be released in early 2023. Moreover, he also stated that ASol’s rework would release right after Ahri’s ASU.
Recently there has been a leak that Ahri’s ASU will be released in patch 13.1. Moreover, that patch will be released before the Lunar New Year 2023 since that patch will include Lunar New Year-themed skins. If you don’t know, Lunar New Year 2023 will take place on January 22, 2023. So we can expect patch 13.1 to release in early January.
If that’s the case, we will see ASol’s rework in one of the subsequent patches. Then we should see Aurelion Sol’s CGU released in late January or early February.
