A recent Apex Legends leak has given players a ray of hope that Solos might return to Season 17 with new twists.

Apex Legends first introduced Solos mode back in Season 2. Most players immediately fell in love with the mode as it was fun, and they didn’t have to rely on anyone else. On the other hand, it was also deemed an unhealthy playlist for the game by many players due to its selfish nature.

The feedback about the game mode was really mixed. Moreover, Respawn also confirmed later that the game was negatively impacted due to the Solos game mode. So, naturally, they made it clear that they didn’t want the Solos to return to the game. At least, not anytime soon.

“When we introduced Solos as a limited-time mode last year (2019) we saw it actually negatively impacted the game, especially when it came to new player retention. We’ve also purposely designed Legends and their abilities to compliment teamplay and squad composition, but when played Solo some Legend abilities become useless.”

Despite the differing viewpoints, the Solos game mode has long been a favorite among Apex Legends players. So, regardless of what Respawn said before, they might actually give players what they want this time.

Solos May Return in Season 17 as Rumble Royal

A few days back, a popular leaker named Osvaldatore shed light on crucial information about Solos returning to the game in Season 17. However, it wasn’t exactly the Solos mode. Instead, many changes were made to make it more interesting and not harmful to the overall game. Moreover, the game mode was mentioned as Rumble in the leaker’s description.

Much of the information provided in the leaked data wasn’t confirmed even by the leaker. So, whether the news was real or not was still a mystery. However, a recent data-mined image might’ve confirmed that the leak provided by Osvaldatore might’ve been real after all.

In this image, you can actually see two magazines. If you focus on the right one, you can notice two important developments for Season 17. The first is that Ballistic, who will be the Season 17 Legend, has already been teased by Respawn.

The title of the magazine cover, which reads “Rumble Royal,” comes next. Sounds familiar? Certainly, the experts believe it made a clear reference to the previously revealed Rumble game mode. If these two events aren’t merely a bizarre coincidence, the original Solos mode will return as Rumble Royal in Season 17.

Nonetheless, Respawn will make many changes to the original Solos before releasing it as Rumble Royal in the game to make the game mode more interesting. We’ll now go over the changes that were described in Osvaldatore’s leaked Rumble description.

Major Changes in Rumble Royal vs. Solos

First of all, no Legend abilities will be available in the Rumble Royal. If you remember Season 2 Solos, certain Legends such as Wraith, Pathfinder, and Octane were really overpowered, and others weren’t even considered.

So, Respawn might’ve done it to make all Legends equal in this game mode. So, instead of giving regular Legend abilities, players can find and use various consumables that’ll grant them temporary buffs, debuffs, or effects such as increased movement speed, health, and more.

The other big change that is mentioned in the leaked description is that you can’t pick or choose your loadouts. Weapons and attachments will be distributed randomly to each player. You can only switch weapons by killing opponents and swapping their guns with yours.

Moreover, players can find and use various modifiers for the weapon to make things more interesting. Similar to the consumables, these modifiers will give weapons extra perks such as Disruptor, Smart Bullets, and more.

Last but not least, there’ll be no rules in the Rumble Royal. Meaning anything can change anytime. The map, the ring, the anomalies, the wildfire, and the consumables will be shuffled every match. So you have to be prepared for anything that may happen next.

However, most of the information provided in the article is based on leaks. Respawn is yet to confirm if they’re actually going to bring Solos/ Rumble Royal in Season 17. So, for now, take it with a grain of salt.
