A recent leak in Apex Legends suggests the upcoming Arena game mode will contain a ranked variant.
Alongside the normal ranked game mode, Respawn might be experimenting with releasing another completely different game mode for players to sink their competitive teeth into. According to the leaks, this arena game mode will arrive within season 9 of Apex Legends.
It seems like Respawn is currently playtesting more experimental game modes. Since Apex currently has only one competitive game mode, it will be a breath of fresh air to have the option to compete in a slightly different game mode.

Apex Arena Competitive Mode
Apparently, Ash will have a big role to play in this game mode, as voice clips of her addressing players regarding this game mode have also been leaked. In the clip, Ash mentions something about testing players in the arenas.
However, these are all still leaks, so take them with a grain of salt since nothing has been officially announced by Respawn as of writing. From the looks of it, Respawn seems to be really working on introducing major updates to the game within season 9.
