Riot just hotfix nerfed Yuumi right after releasing her rework.
League of Legends Patch 13.5 is now available, and it includes a slew of new features. Among the changes include champion buffs for Aatrox, Samira, and Leblanc, as well as nerfs for Aurelion Sol, Gangplank, Twitch, and others. Additionally, Ashe and Azir also saw some adjustments. But one of the most significant changes that came with the patch was the Yuumi rework.
Yuumi, The Magical Cat, introduced in 2019, is a support champion in League of Legends. She is a unique champion who can attach herself to an ally and provide them with buffs while remaining untargetable. This ability has made her a popular pick among support players, particularly in professional play. It also made her a balance nightmare for Riot.
For a long time, the balance team has been trying to figure out how to balance Yuumi. Yuumi was buffed and nerfed multiple times throughout the years. Yet it was eventually futile; she either stayed extremely powerful or became so weak that she was unplayable. As a result, Riot stated in December 2022 that they would be reworking Yuumi. And, after months of anticipation, the rework is here.
The Yuumi rework was shipped to the live servers with the introduction of Patch 13.5. However, soon after its release, Riot Games felt that Yuumi was too strong and needed to be nerfed. The Yuumi hotfix nerf, which was released shortly after the patch, made several changes to Yuumi’s abilities.

Yuumi Hotfix Nerfs
- Q – Prowling Projectile Enhanced Damage: 80/140/200/260/320/380 (+35% AP) ⇒ 80/135/190/245/300/355 (+30% AP)
- Q – Prowling Projectile Enhanced Slow: 55/60/65/70/75/80% ⇒ 50/53/56/59/62/65%
- Tail of Two Tears: Fixed a bug where if Yuumi used her W on an allied champion, both Yuumi and her ally would receive Tear of the Goddess stacks if they had the item in their inventory.
First, Yuumi’s Q ability, Prowling Projectile, had its damage reduced significantly. It also got its slow amount nerfed. The reduced damage makes it harder for Yuumi to harass opponents in the early game.
Riot will also closely monitor her Q ability hitbox and R damage output. Additionally, Riot is looking at clarity and satisfaction for the Best Friend mechanic and will assess her performance in optimal play brackets and adjust as needed.
