What Happens When You Die
Astro Bot has a checkpoint-based respawn system. When you die in Astro Bot, you’ll return to your last activated checkpoint, so that you don’t have to start over the entire level when you reach a difficult section.
However, you will carry on any progress you’ve made beyond the last checkpoint. You will be able to keep all the Bots and Puzzle Pieces you’ve collected. This means that you will not have to redo a puzzle or difficult platforming section over and over again.
Although, you will lose any coins you’ve collected. If you want to keep your coins, you’ll need to collect them all over again.
Also, keep in mind that you cannot re-activate a checkpoint, so make sure to collect any nearby coins before activating a checkpoint, otherwise, you will have to collect them each time you respawn.
How to Activate Checkpoints
Checkpoints are a crucial part of Astro Bot, serving as both respawn points as well as progress markers.
Simply walking past a Checkpoint or being within its radius will activate it. However, some Checkpoints only activate after completing certain tasks, such as rescuing a Bot or defeating a difficult enemy.
Moreover, Checkpoints are Red when they are not activated. Activating a Checkpoint will turn it Blue.
