Modern Warfare is getting a lot of backslashes recently as many players are calling out the two best weapons Grau 5.56 and Bruen Mk9 as “pay to win”.
Recent balance changes put Grau 5.56 and Bruen Mk9 in the best weapons mark in both Modern Warfare and Warzone. However, in order to unlock the weapons, players need to complete some tasks.
Players can unlock the Grau 5.56 and Bruen Mk9 by completing similar challenges in both Modern Warfare and Warzone. In order to unlock the Grau 5.56 players need to get 5 kills in a minute 25 times and to unlock the Bruen Mk9, players need to get 3 LMG kills near the smoke 15 times.

Although the tasks might be the same, it is way easier to complete in Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode than in free-to-play Warzone. Thus, a lot of players are calling out Activision for making these tasks harder for their free-to-play game Warzone and encouraging players to buy their full Modern Warfare game.
A lot of players are criticizing it on Reddit over the unlock criteria and calling out the requirements “impossible” to compete in Warzone. A Reddit user u/frank-ocean also showed his frustration stating the weapons as “Pay to Win”.
However, some players have said that they have completed the tasks on plunder which is also quite difficult to accomplish. Infinity Ward is yet to make their statement regarding this issue, but they previously said that they will make these tasks easier in the future.
