VALORANT is giving Skirmish a much bigger competitive identity with Skirmish: Ascension, a limited-time event that adds a ranked ladder, 1v1 and 2v2 leaderboards, and exclusive in-game rewards. The event goes live on April 29 PT and runs until June 22, with a staggered regional rollout.
What Is Skirmish: Ascension in VALORANT?
Skirmish: Ascension is Riotโs new experimental competitive version of Skirmish. Instead of being just a quick 2v2 experience, it now features a dedicated ladder through the FTW website, separate leaderboards, limited Agent abilities, staged weapons, and a reward track tied to participation and rank.
The biggest change is the addition of 1v1, giving players a cleaner way to test raw aim, decision-making, and confidence in isolated fights. The existing 2v2 mode is still available, but now both queues have their own leaderboard progression.
All Skirmish: Ascension Rewards in VALORANT
Skirmish: Ascension rewards are split into two categories. Players can earn Player Cards by playing matches, while Titles are awarded based on the highest rank they reach on the Skirmish leaderboard.
The first reward is the Act 3 Key Art: Combat Ready Player Card, which unlocks after playing 3 games. The second reward is the Homepage: Trade Me Player Card, which unlocks after playing 15 games.
Players who finish between Gold and Platinum can earn the Skirmish Competitor title. Players who reach Diamond to Immortal can unlock the Skirmish Expert title. The top-tier reward is reserved for Radiant players, who will receive the Skirmish Legend title.
How to Unlock the Combat Ready and Trade Me Player Cards
The Combat Ready Player Card is earned by completing 3 Skirmish placement matches in a single queue, either 1v1 or 2v2. The Trade Me Player Card requires 15 Skirmish matches, and Riot says those matches can be played across either queue.
That makes the card rewards fairly accessible, even for players who are not trying to grind all the way to Radiant. Simply playing the mode enough should be enough to walk away with both cosmetics.
How Skirmish: Ascension Ranked Titles Work
The title rewards are tied to your highest rank across the 1v1 or 2v2 leaderboard. This means you do not need to hit the same rank in both queues. Riot will look at whichever leaderboard rank is higher during the Challenge Period.
The ranking system mirrors VALORANTโs normal competitive ladder, ranging from Iron to Radiant. However, Skirmish ranks are tracked through FTW rather than directly through the standard in-game Competitive tab. Players need to connect their Riot account to FTW, play Skirmish: Ascension, and later redeem rewards through the FTW platform.
Skirmish: Ascension 1v1 and 2v2 Leaderboards Explained
Skirmish: Ascension has separate leaderboards for 1v1 and 2v2. Riot also says these leaderboards are segmented by server to group players regionally and by platform. Rankings are calculated through a point system that considers win and loss ratios, along with the skill levels of teammates and opponents.
In other words, this is not just about farming games. Winning against tougher opponents should matter, and consistent performance is what will push players higher up the ladder.
The rewards are not flashy weapon skins, but they do give Skirmish players something to chase. The Player Cards are easy participation rewards, while the Titles give competitive players a way to show off where they landed during the event.
The Skirmish Legend title will likely be the standout reward here. Since it is locked behind Radiant, it should become a flex item for players who dominate the mode during its limited run.
