Riot Games will spice things up with the following map rotation to be taken place in January 2023.

Currently, there are 8 official maps in VALORANT. Pearl was the latest map that was added to the game on June 22, 2022. On the same day, Split was also removed from the map pool. So, the 7 remaining maps were left for the Competitive and Unrated playlists.

However, According to Riot’s official announcement, VALORANT will add Split back into the Competitive and Unrated playlist in early January 2023. Contrarily, Breeze and Bind will be removed from the map pool.

VALORANT New Map Rotation

The new map rotation changes for the 6.00 patch:

  • Split in.
  • Breeze and Bind Removed.

Riot Games confirmed that they would remove Breeze and Bind from the map rotation. However, that leaves VALORANT with 6 maps in the map rotation. So, that only means that a new map will also be released in the 6.00 patch, becoming the 7th official map for Competitive and Unrated playlists.

There are already leaks regarding an upcoming map in the VALORANT universe. According to data miners, the map has a codename “Jam.” So, this may be a hint that Jam will be released along with the 6.00 patch.

But Why is Breeze and Bind Getting Removed?

Riot Games is removing Breeze because the map has “room to improve” in terms of Agents and team comp diversity. The map has structural issues that can also be improved. On the other hand, they are removing Bind because of “strategic diversity.” Riot Games will work around the teleporters’ areas in order to change how the map is played differently.

VALORANT’s Upcoming Map Pool Changes

  • Next map rotation starts in early January with Patch 6.0
  • Split will return—with a few changes!
    • We will detail those in Patch Notes 6.0
  • Breeze and Bind will exit the map pool in Competitive and Unrated queues—no date set for their return
  • Breeze/Bind available in Spike Rush, custom games, and other game modes

When Will the New Map Rotation Take Place?

According to Riot Games, the new map rotation will take place when VALORANT patch 6.00 releases, which is set to go live in early January 2023.
