You take on the role of Valkyrie, an emissary of redemption created by the All-Father Odin, who has been tasked with searching for and purifying lost souls. You will have to traverse across the realms destructed by the Ragnarok, fight monsters, and fulfill your duty of purifying souls.
Your wings allow you to soar through the sky. And you can use your skills and abilities to perform powerful combos. You can also summon warrior spirits called Einherjar to aid you in battles. Moreover, the game also offers a semi-open world. Meaning you can explore various levels, fight monsters, and loot treasure chests.
Total Hours to Beat Valkyrie Elysium
Despite all the RPG elements it offers, Valkyrie Elysium is surprisingly small, considering it will take around 20 hours to beat the base game. With that said, the game has impactful story choices that may cut the ending even shorter. Moreover, despite having stunning visuals, the free-roaming itself is unrewarding as there is nothing more to do than fight monsters.
That’s because side quests are only unlocked after finishing the game’s main storyline. Moreover, it doesn’t help that an invisible barrier restricts you from further exploration until you have beaten a set amount of monsters after entering a new area.
Having said that, once you unlock the side quests, which the game has plenty of, you might get 5-6 hours of additional gameplay. Since the game has multiple endings, you might want to explore other choices in a new playthrough.
