Riot unveils some massive buffs for Udyr, Ryze, Ekko, Jinx, Fizz, Sona, and Nasus in the upcoming patch 12.19.
With over 161 champions in League of Legends, there are a lot of underpowered champions. Not only are these champions weak, but they are also hard to play with against a meta pick.
Since patch 12.18 was the Worlds 2022 patch, Riot is done adjusting the game for Worlds. So now they can focus on solo queue and buffing the weak champions since it won’t hurt the Worlds meta.
As patch 12.19 is more catered towards buffing the weaker ones, Riot has buffed more champions than nerfing them. RiotPhroxzon has teased the preview for patch 12.19 on Twitter. In the preview, they would be buffing 7 different champions and meanwhile nerfing only 2 yet problematic champions.
The champions who would be getting buffs are Udyr, Ryze, Ekko, Jinx, Fizz, Sona, and Nasus. Even though these champions are fan-favorite, they are extremely weak on solo queue. That’s why they will be buffed in patch 12.19.

Udyr Buffs Patch 12.19
- Q2:
- Minimum damage to minions: 0 >>> 80-160
- W:
- Minion healing: 50% >>> 60%
- R:
- Damage to minions: 40/55/70/85% >>> 50/60/70/80%
Udyr is the most recent champion who got a rework. Because of this, he has been extremely over-tuned since his rework. He still holds one of the highest ban rates in the jungle, with over 39.8%.
His pick rate for the top lane skyrocketed when he got his rework. Since he had a strong sustain in every stage of the game, he could easily 1v1 almost all champions in the top lane. That’s why Riot nerfed his sustain, where he became pretty much unplayable in the top lane.
In patch 12.17, he was the 2nd most picked top laner in the entire game, with over 52.45% win rate. But after he got nerfed in patch 12.18, he became the 2nd least picked top lane champion in the game with a 46.78% win rate.
As Riot is now encouraging off-meta picks, Udyr top will be buffed in patch 12.19.
Ryze Buffs Patch 12.19
- Q:
- AP ratio: 50% >>> 55%
- W:
- AP ratio: 60% >>> 70%
Ryze is one of the hardest characters to balance in League of Legends. At one point in season 11, he was the worst champion in the game.
Even after several buffs, he is still the weakest champion in the game. He only has a 1.3% pick rate, a 45.68% win rate, and a nonexistent ban rate.
As Ryze is the weakest champion in the game, Riot will indefinitely buff him in patch 12.19.
Jinx Buffs Patch 12.19
- Base AD: 57 >>> 59
- R:
- Base damage to primary target: 250/400/550 >>> 300/450/600
Jinx has become an unofficial mascot for League of Legends, partially due to the release of Arcane. Even though, Arcane did breathe some life into her pick and win rate, both her win rate and pick rate have plummeted so much that she is one of the least-picked ADCs in the game.
She has a 48.59% win rate, but her pick rate is only 6.6%. So even though she has a lot of damage in the late game, she is very fragile and becomes a liability in the early game. That’s why Riot will buff Jinx.
Ekko Buffs Patch 12.19
- Passive:
- AP ratio: 80% >>> 90%
- R:
- Damage: 150-450 (+150% AP) >>> 200-500 (+175% AP)
Like Jinx, Arcane also made Ekko even more prevalent than before, even though he still had a healthy pick rate back then.
Besides the durability update, Ekko did not receive any significant patches in a long time. Because of this, he just lost his relevancy.
Recently, he has been receiving a mediocre pick and win rate in the solo queue. In the current patch, he has a 49.69% win rate and a 5% pick rate.
Sona Buffs Patch 12.19
- Q:
- Base damage: 40/70/100/130/160 >>> 50/80/110/140/170
- E:
- Slow: 40% >>> 50%
Even though Sona has a healthy win rate, she doesn’t get highly picked, mainly due to Seraphine.
Sona’s Winrate is a respectable 50.67%, but her pick rate is 2.7% in the platinum+ elo. So to encourage more people to pick Sona, Riot will be buffing Sona.
Nasus Buffs Patch 12.19
- W:
- AS slow: 50% >>> 75% of the movespeed slow
- R:
- Tick rate: 1s >>> 0.5 seconds (same total damage)
- [R-Q] bonus attack range during Fury of the Sands: 25 >>> 50
Nasus is one of the oldest champions in League of Legends. Even now, his late-game scaling is still incredible compared to many champions.
Like Ekko, Nasus did not receive any significant patches besides the durability update. That’s why he has been falling off in both ranked and pro environments.
Currently, he has a 48.11% win rate with a 2.2% win rate.
Fizz Buffs Patch 12.19
- E:
- AP ratio: 75% >>> 90%
Riot has recently started to pay more attention to the Tidal Trickster. Almost a month ago, he received a VFX update, which was very positively received.
Even though Riot did update his VFX, he still doesn’t scale well in the late game. He has a very mediocre pick and win rate in ranked. He only has a 49.48% win rate and a 2.7% pick rate.
To get him on par with other recent champions, they will be buffing his kit in patch 12.19.
Patch 12.19 Release Date
Udyr, Ryze, Ekko, Jinx, Fizz, Sona, and Nasus will receive their buffs in patch 12.19, which is scheduled to come out on Wednesday, Oct 5, 2022.
