Respawn is finally bringing back the original unadulterated battle royale experience of Apex Legends with the new game mode called “Launch Royale”.

Apex Legends was officially launched on February 4th, 2019 without any prior marketing. Following its unprecedented release, the battle royale market was turned upside down. Polished hero shooter gameplay, an intuitive pining system, and most importantly, the respawn system revolutionized the genre.

Using clever marketing tactics focused on big-name content creators and Twitch streamers turned out to be a stroke of genius. The original launch title had it all. Over-the-top weapons like Wingman, R99 & Peacekeeper were all at their peak untouched state, which meant players were having a blast.

Legends like Wraith and Pathfinder were used to reign supreme. Also, the Skull Town drop location was so popular that it turned into a graveyard as half the server used to drop at that exact location.

Step back in time to the experience that started it all: Launch Royale. This new LTM drops players into the original Apex Legends circa 2019—it’s the old-school weapons, Legends, abilities, ruleset, and map that started it all. That means no EVO Armor or Ability Upgrades—just pure skill and your wits to survive the Apex Games.

If you’re craving that old-school Apex vibe or just want to see how it all started, this is the best time to jump in and see where Legends were born. Conquer Launch Royale Challenges to unlock Legends and earn rewards like Apex Packs and more. Ready up, because we’re going back to experience that first drop once again.
